"To a billionaire, buying a house is like you spending $18." ---This thread is about gaining perspective on a billion dollars by comparing it to an average income. I recently discovered my tweet which was the beginning of this thread, had mysteriously been deleted.
So, using a median household income of 59,000, and dividing that into a billion, we get the number 16,949, which doesn't really tell us much and if anything seems like "well what's the big deal, then?"
I'm not especially business savvy but it's always seemed so obviously bad that the health insurance industry manages to make *so much* money just being a middleman between the customer and the health care.
2 wks ago I bought 1.5 lbs of grapes at the grocery store and later EVERY single grape came out of the bag attached to the one central vine I picked up. Buying grapes since then just hasn't felt the same. I think I've peaked (in the grapes category)
Not to be a Halloween Scrooge but I don’t like that everyone uses stencils to carve their pumpkins now. Jack-o-lanterns are supposed to be extremely unimpressive. You should have a vision in your head and then not be able to execute it. That’s what Halloween is all about.
Woke up to my city sinking underwater once again and the news that a 90-year-old millionaire senator who bullied children for asking her to take action on climate change has died.
Lmao I haven't been on here in like a week or more since posting about how I can't bring myself to click on that stupid x. Log on today and my notifications are all sex bot follows & a weird notification about Lionel Messi when I've never expressed interest in any sports on here
So far this is the one and only time I've logged on to Twitter since the stupid name change. Just can't click that dumb x. What a fuckin stupid thing. A perpetual twelve year old who always thought x was the coolest letter or some shit owns this place now lol
For those saying, look at Japan right now (they are experiencing a wave of COVID infections). I took a look at the contextual differences and learned something important:
Japan & the U.S. are worlds apart on pandemic mortality. Look at their cumulative excess deaths. 🧵 1/
Unreal. Large parts of the city of Catania in Sicily (300k people) have now gone 48 hours without water or electricity because the cables laid under the roads have melted in 46C heat. Meanwhile Sicily's capital Palermo is encircled by wildfires

I edit video sometimes and it's more efficient to watch through at faster speed but it kinda sucks cuz I'm low key annoyed the whole time cuz everything sounds like this one particular right wing podcaster who talks fast
Hired a pr firm to make him look better so then he could get his wife some kind of consulting fees all for WHAT? So he can go sit and smoke cigars with like the boring-est guys on earth? Or is it out of fear? Ugh like most normal ppl just can't relate, can't visualize it
When confronted w the exposes of Justice Thomas, for example, I think, what can regular ppl like me, who just wanna like, eat food & fuck, do against ppl so unrelatably evil that I become tired trying to *conceive* of the lengths they've gone to like, continue doing what they do
