It has been the privilege of my life to serve as the Chancellor of the Exchequer.
The economy today is stronger, fairer and more resilient because of the choices we have taken as a Labour Government over the past two years.
Stability restored, investment delivered and reform to our economy under way. I said when I was appointed Chancellor that I would judge my time in office if the lives ordinary working class people have been improved. I’m proud to say that they have.
And to every young woman and girl let my time in office show there should be no ceilings on your ambitions, your hopes or your dreams.
I wish the very best of luck to my successor, Andy and his cabinet. You have my full support, and I will continue to play my part in helping this Labour government deliver the change the country needs.
I would like to pay tribute to Johnson for providing the nation with a list of Tory MPs who believed he hadn’t done enough damage last time (in some cases despite telling him to step down only a few months ago). We will remember.
A day is a long time in politics...
Given today's news, it's clear that we should turn to @RishiSunak to become our next Prime Minister. Rishi is immensely talented, will command a strong majority in the parliamentary Conservative Party, and will have my full support & loyalty.
King Charles has inherited 45,667 acres of land across England & Wales, worth around £650ml and generating income of £24ml a year.
King Charles won’t pay a single penny in inheritance tax & will only pay income tax if he volunteers.
It. is. wrong.
@HB_HeadCoach Son has always been a streak player, we now have the squad that allows us to replace with top quality when he isn’t firing. I love him but you are right mate.
