@nyctherapist Heidegger and his concept of being followed by Medard Boss who took that concept and created Daseinsanalysis off of Heidegger’s concept of Dasein. The literal translation from the German is “there being” which we have come to know as “being there” or “being here.”

Psychoanalytic therapists listen not just to what is said but how it is said. We notice disjunctions & discontinuities that normally pass unnoticed. We notice unnecessary repetition. We hear prosody. Beneath the words, there is music. It is necessary only to know how to listen.
