Pixi came into BARC as a stray on 7/15. She’s been in the shelter for 3 weeks.

Shelter Notes:
- 7/18: Presented with wiggly body, wagging tail, and soft face. Easily picked up and carried to next kennel.
- 7/19: Participated in Move Adopt program. Quiet and calm in play yard, ignored other dogs. Became more social with customers. Sat with soft eyes, neutral tail, relaxed ears.
- 7/21 & 7/28: Carried to play yard while kennel was cleaned. Very quiet and calm. Sat by gate with no issues, ignored dogs passing by. Went back to kennel and slept on cot/plushie.
- 7/22 & 7/24: Greeted with very wiggly body, fast wagging tail, and soft smiling mouth. Easily carried to temp kennel.
- 7/27: "Puppy with puppy attitude" - very wiggly body, fast wagging tail, soft smiling mouth.
- 7/29: Wiggly body, high fast-wagging tail, front feet tapping, soft smiling face, loose tongue. Easily picked up.

Beethoven is just an 8-month-old puppy who is overwhelmed by the shelter. He curls into the back corner of his kennel and avoids eye contact. Although fear causes him to freeze and pancake, he has remained non-aggressive and allows staff to leash, carry, and handle him. He often keeps his kennel clean and quietly retreats to a corner, showing that what he needs most is a safe, patient environment where he can finally relax and learn to trust.

Lyla is heartworm negative, vaccinated, dewormed, spayed, and current on flea prevention. As a young puppy she underwent a successful spay and umbilical hernia repair. She has no significant current medical concerns.

Behavior Notes:
Lyla is a shy and frightened young dog who is struggling with the shelter environment. She hides in the corners of her kennel, avoids people, lowers herself to the ground, and often retreats or bolts through the dog door when approached. She allows herself to be leashed but is sometimes too scared to walk and has needed staff to work around her fear during kennel care. Lyla needs a calm, patient home where she can decompress, rebuild her confidence, and learn to trust again.

Praline has no hair loss at this time, but has been exposed to her littermates and has a small scab on her left elbow, so she will need monitoring for signs of ringworm. All three puppies have been vaccinated, dewormed, treated with Advantage Multi, and are otherwise bright young puppies ready to recover outside the shelter.

🩺 Medical:
Lizy is in good physical condition. She is spayed, up to date on her DA2PP and Bordetella vaccines, and has no significant medical concerns noted.

Behavior Notes:
Lizy is an incredibly frightened young dog who is overwhelmed by the shelter environment. She trembles, hides under her food bin, has whale eyes and fully dilated pupils, and freezes with tense body language when handled. Despite her fear, she allowed staff to safely carry her with a towel without attempting to bite, and once back in her kennel she turned around to gently sniff her handler—a small but meaningful sign that her curiosity is still there beneath the fear.

Lizy came to BARC after a minor bite incident involving a juvenile while playing outside on July 26, 2026, resulting in a small bite to the cheek that broke the skin. She needs an experienced, patient foster who understands fearful dogs and can help her rebuild confidence.

Lyla is heartworm negative, vaccinated, dewormed, spayed, and current on flea prevention. As a young puppy she underwent a successful spay and umbilical hernia repair. She has no significant current medical concerns.

Behavior Notes:
Lyla is a shy and frightened young dog who is struggling with the shelter environment. She hides in the corners of her kennel, avoids people, lowers herself to the ground, and often retreats or bolts through the dog door when approached. She allows herself to be leashed but is sometimes too scared to walk and has needed staff to work around her fear during kennel care. Lyla needs a calm, patient home where she can decompress, rebuild her confidence, and learn to trust again.
