NOW I UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE GET SICK OF PAYING STUDENT LOANS…

Logged in this morning to check my balance.

Borrowed $32k back in 2013.

I’ve been paying $420 every month for 11 years straight.

That’s over $55,000 out of my pocket.

My balance today?

$28,900.

Eleven years of payments.

$55k+ paid.

And I’ve only knocked roughly $3k off the original $32k.

So I’ve already paid more than I borrowed and somehow still owe almost the entire loan.

WHERE DID THE $55,000 GO?

A bank won’t approve a $1,000,000 mortgage for someone making $100k a year.

A dealership won’t finance a $75,000 car for someone earning $35k.

But an 18 year old can take on $250,000 in student debt for a degree that leads to a $40,000 salary.

No credit check. No income verification. No reality check.

We let kids who can’t rent a car make six figure financial commitments that can follow them for decades.

Then we ask why so many young adults struggle to get ahead.

The bank protects its money.

The dealership protects its money.

The university gets paid.

And the student gets the debt.

I went to the gas station to get a red bull and my usual older cashier was there. I walked in, he said "I restocked the orange ones!" Hell yeah. Grabbed two - went to check out. Another dude behind me tells me "You should be more careful drinking those as a woman" and my cashier man came in hot with "You should be more careful giving your unsolicited opinions as a man".
