I was briefed late this week on the likelihood for serious gameday traffic disruptions with the closures at the I-80/I-180 interchange for long-overdue highway bridge replacement and repairs.

While the orderly progress of our critical roads projects is always the priority, it was unacceptable to me for Husker fan traffic to be so badly delayed if there were alternatives available. I ordered my team to get to work to identify solutions.

Later this morning we will announce temporary measures to ensure that Nebraska’s busiest flow of gameday traffic is significantly less disrupted. Watch for updates from my office, @NebraskaDOT, and @NEStatePatrol for details.

Husker Fans—please head to Lincoln earlier than usual to avoid delays. And it will be a hot one. Bring lots of water and sunscreen.
