@CoPADeputy Also, consider a lack of motivation? If they don't feel they are good at the subject, why bother? Perhaps motivational interviewing techniques could be useful in promoting change in behaviour.

@CoPADeputy Self reflection plays a part too. If an interaction isn't going as well as I hope I have to ask why, look at my own actions and make a change. Every behaviour is a form of communication.
