I met @Wangchuk66 yesterday and finally gave him the book on Ants, a gift from his eldest brother, along with books on climate change and its solution that he had requested. This video is from a country where there is just 𝟭 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝟳𝟮𝟬 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 , but 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗩𝗜𝗣, 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝟯 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀 are assigned.

We’re talking about India, which has one of the 𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲-𝘁𝗼-𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗻 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝘀 in the world.

And yet, time and again, 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗼𝘆𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘃𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀 are seen escorting not just elected leaders, but also their family members, even those who hold no official position or public duty.

One of the most recent examples came just a few months ago, when 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗻 of Rajasthan’s Deputy Chief Minister was seen filming a reel, sitting in an open jeep, 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘃𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱.

The very officers who should’ve been 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗻𝘀 were instead following a 𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲.

Sadly, such misuse of state machinery is not rare.

Senior advocate Harish Salve once recounted that he saw 𝗳𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘃𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗵 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 in his neighbourhood.

Upon inquiry, he discovered they weren’t there for a minister, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 of a Chief Minister.

Yes, a relative.

Not an elected official. Not even a bureaucrat. 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲.

This is how public institutions get hollowed out from within.

To be clear, yes, certain positions absolutely require security, and no one disputes that.

For instance, presidents and Prime Ministers around the world do receive protection, and rightly so.

But their security is tied to the 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱, not to who they are as individuals.

In India, however, that crucial line between 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 has been dangerously blurred.

And unless we begin to 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, it will keep growing, unchecked, unchallenged, and unpunished.

Leaders simply mirror the collective consciousness of the public.

If the public is 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝘂𝗻𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲, 𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱, the leadership will reflect the same.

That’s why it’s not enough to blame politicians or institutions — the public must first awaken to its responsibility.

So raise tough, informed questions now — before the cost of silence becomes too high.

Every holiday season, tourist destinations across India follow a familiar pattern.

More visitors.
More traffic.
𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝘆, 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲.

A recent viral video from the Manimahesh Yatra in Himachal Pradesh has once again brought this issue into focus.

𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝟭𝟯,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝘁, plastic bottles were seen scattered along the route.

Some of them were 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝘇𝗲𝗻, indicating they had been lying there for a long time.

At such heights, waste does not decompose the way it does in cities.

So 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲, often for decades.

And this is not an isolated incident.

From hill towns in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand to ecologically sensitive regions in the Northeast and the Western Ghats, tourist destinations are increasingly struggling with unchecked littering and waste overload.

𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁?

Much of this damage happens when we visit these places to 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲, 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘅, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘆.

Reflecting on this issue, 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘆𝗮 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗻𝘁 has often pointed out that such behaviour stems from a distorted idea of happiness.

one rooted in ignorance, where everything is seen merely as something to be 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗱.

This mindset cannot change through rules alone.

𝗟𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆, an understanding of oneself, and therefore a conscious relationship with the world one inhabits.

Otherwise, tourism will keep growing,
and so will waste, degradation, and irreversible loss.

"What’s Really New About the New Year?

No “New Year” will give you the new.

So many New Years have come and gone, only to become old years.

Yet, because we are yearning for change, we keep hoping that 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿, will finally bring transformation into our lives.

If you want the new, don’t cling to the old.

The new is not waiting somewhere in the future.
It does not arrive with another sunrise or another celebration.

𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱.
Look at your relationships, your mind, your thoughts.

And maybe, in that honest looking, you will suddenly cry out:
“𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘄.”

In 2009, when 𝟯 𝗜𝗱𝗶𝗼𝘁𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱, nobody thought that a few minutes of screen time at Pangong Lake would change Ladakh’s fate.

But it did.

Almost overnight, Ladakh appeared on 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁’𝘀 𝗯𝘂𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁.

Before the movie, only a 𝗳𝗲𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 visited the region during summer.

Today, that number has exploded into lakhs, with 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟯 𝗹𝗮𝗸𝗵 visiting in 2024 alone.

Most of these visitors arrive in the 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗼𝘄, creating unbearable pressure on one of the most fragile ecosystems in the world.

The 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝘄 has fallen on Pangong Lake, the very spot where the 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘅 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘁.

𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝟯𝟬𝟬–𝟲𝟬𝟬 𝘃𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀 make their way to its shores, leaving behind smoke, litter, and noise in what was once pristine silence.

𝗛𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀 have mushroomed around the lake, each drilling borewells to meet rising water demand.

This uncontrolled extraction has 𝘀𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿, forcing locals to struggle for even their basic needs.

Meanwhile, the 𝘀𝗺𝗼𝗸𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁 from vehicles and construction are 𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗛𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻 𝗴𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀, accelerating their melting.

This is something 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗿𝘆 about.

Because this is not just Ladakh’s problem.

The Himalayas are called the “Water Towers of Asia.”

They feed the 𝗚𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮, 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀, 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗵𝗺𝗮𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗮, and countless rivers that sustain millions of lives across the subcontinent.

If the glaciers collapse, it will mean 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗹𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘀 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁, and then the 𝗱𝗿𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗽 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀 that millions depend on.

We are already seeing this play out in 𝗛𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗵, 𝗨𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗸𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱, ans 𝗝𝗮𝗺𝗺𝘂 & 𝗞𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗺𝗶𝗿.

Unchecked overtourism in the Himalayas is not just reckless, 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗹.

These mountains cannot carry the burden of our endless desires.

𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘆𝗮 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗻𝘁 has often reminded us: “Every vote, every purchase, every click today is a climate decision.”

If climate is not made a political issue, India’s survival itself will be at stake.

The youth especially cannot stay silent. They are not just future victims of climate collapse, but also present agents of change.

So 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝘂𝗽 now, your silence is turning the 𝗛𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗮𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝗺𝗯.

🗳️ बिहार चुनाव: विकल्प से परे जिम्मेदारी
आज जब बिहार में चुनाव की प्रक्रिया चल रही है, हमें यह समझना होगा कि वोट देना सिर्फ एक विकल्प चुनना नहीं है — यह एक जिम्मेदारी है।
आंकड़ा, जात-पांति, प्रचार-चिल्लाने से आगे हमें निर्णय की गुणवत्ता पर ध्यान देना चाहिए।

🔍 कुछ बिंदु जिन पर हमें विचार करना चाहिए

1.जात-सिस्टम, संख्या-खेल और वोट बैंक राजनीति हमें पीछे ले जाते हैं।

2.संख्या-बल से ज्यादा मायने रखता है कितना ज्ञान, कितनी उद्यमिता, कितनी पारदर्शिता। जैसे उन्होंने उत्तर व दक्षिण भारत के बीच शिक्षा-आय कर आंकड़ों के आधार पर असमम्यता की बात की है।

3.चुनाव सिर्फ सत्ता-बदलना नहीं होता, उसमें छिपा है - नवीन सोच, सामाजिक न्याय, आम आदमी की गरिमा।नेता परिवर्तन का माध्यम हो सकते हैं, लेकिन असली परिवर्तन होता है हमारी जागरुक सोच से।

📌 बिहार से जुड़े विशेष चिह्न

•बिहार में युवा-निर्माण, शिक्षा-उन्नति, रोजगार जैसी चुनौतियाँ बड़ी हैं।

•यहाँ राजनीत में अक्सर जात-आधारित समीकरण ज्यादा दिखाई देते हैं;

•इसलिए इस बार वोट देते वक्त यह सोचें: क्या यह उम्मीदवार सुधार लाएगा, या सिर्फ वोट बैंक बनाएगा?

•सोचें: मेरा वोट किस दिशा में समाज को ले जाएगा — सिर्फ पार्टी के चलते, या बदलाव की दिशा में?

•याद रखें — चुनाव के बाद हमारी सक्रिय भागीदारी भी महत्वपूर्ण है, सिर्फ वोट देना ही काफी नहीं।
