Hooray, Happy Birthday to me! 🥳
Today's green is Rimu (Dacrydium cupressinum), an ancient conifer species that can live for 1000 years. These beautiful tresses are the juvenile form, in maturity it will grow a bare trunk and reach 35m. 💚
BAM! Colombia has announced a historic ban on all new oil and large-scale mining projects in its part of the Amazon Rainforest, protecting an area roughly the size of Sweden. 🌿
Experts say the move could help protect one of the planet’s most important ecosystems—often called the “lungs of the Earth.” 🌎🌳
Nature is amazing. Protect it.

@dramdarcy@CaolanReports Thank you for that clarification, it has indeed been a worthy response to refugees. Even more unfortunate that this sanctioned russian company has been allowed to embed itself so thoroughly in the country that it has, reportedly, threatened Ireland's energy supply if challenged.
@KaterynaLis Does he know they are losing more ground than they are gaining? Not to mention 8,400 eliminated personnel in the last week alone. Are his generals withholding information?
Trump’s outrageous plan to scrap a crucial ocean system for monitoring climate change will also make weather forecasting less accurate and lessen our ability to provide warnings of dangerous storms, say scientists. Stupid, or what?

Really good news. Over the last 15 years the world gained more mangroves than it has lost, thanks to stronger legal protections following the 2004 tsunami which proved their importance in protecting coasts. Also vital for fish and in absorbing carbon.

"In the city of Saky, on the grounds of St. Elijah’s Church, members of these “Orthodox Pathfinders” took part in military training exercises. Priests and armed fighters put weapons into the hands of minors and taught them how to handle assault rifles inside a sacred place."
God’s commandments teach us to value and protect every human life. But on the occupied territories, the russian Church teaches Ukrainian children something very different — to kill and die for an empire.
Over many years of rescuing children, I have seen a lot. But what russians are doing today under the guise of faith is shocking in its cynicism. Through the so-called "Brotherhood of Orthodox Pathfinders," russia has built an entire militarized network for children. Religion has been turned into a weapon, and young people are taught that their imposed “duty to the motherland” matters more than their own lives.
Last month, another parade of this organization took place in occupied Crimea. Hundreds of Ukrainian children were forced to march under the disturbing slogan: “Be Ready! Always Ready for God and russia!” One of the main centers of this militarized propaganda has become the so-called “New Chersonesos.”
Russia has transformed churches into part of its mobilization infrastructure. In the city of Saky, on the grounds of St. Elijah’s Church, members of these “Orthodox Pathfinders” took part in military training exercises. Priests and armed fighters put weapons into the hands of minors and taught them how to handle assault rifles inside a sacred place. In this way, war and violence are deliberately presented to children as something righteous and pleasing to God. Their so-called “service to the motherland” is, in reality, preparation to become future cannon fodder.
It would be easy to dismiss these reports from russian media as staged events, propaganda, or someone’s invention—if it were not for the stories of the children whom Save Ukraine helps escape from occupation. Many of the teenagers our team has rescued from occupation share experiences that fully confirm what fully confirm the news published by russian media.
For example, Oleksii, a 19-year-old from Simferopol whom we helped get out of occupation, told us how he and his classmates were taken out of school in the middle of the day and sent to meet with priests of the Moscow Patriarchate without the consent of their families. The occupation authorities described these events as “patriotic education.” But after 12 years of witnessing russia’s actions, we know exactly what kind of “patriots” it is trying to create.
We cannot remain silent while russia steals another generation of Ukrainian children. Every day, our team helps children, young people, and entire families escape this reality. You can also join our mission or support our team by making a donation here: https://t.co/XMusgO4Oqb

“We’re in absolute hell right now. Everything is burning and shaking. Drones are flying in and wiping everything off the face of the earth. Some people are literally running into the city right now. We’re in a basement, not even sure we’ll make it till morning. There have already been strikes nearby. The connection keeps dropping.”
This was a message from residents on the outskirts of Kherson.
After this, the situation escalated further. Their home and nearby areas were hit around three more times. They and their neighbors fled the houses and ran toward the city. Everything was on fire, drones were still overhead. On the way, they saw at least two bodies lying on the road.
The family has since left Kherson and evacuated to Mykolaiv. Their lives are no longer in immediate danger.
This is the reality Ukrainians are being forced to survive.
