When a student is late to class it’s frustrating & disruptive.
But, imagine how the dynamic would shift in your classroom if instead of greeting the #student with frustration & disappointment, you said,
‘I hope everything is all right. I’m glad you’re here.’

I cannot trust anyone who cites a rise in teenage suicide rates as a reason to reopen school buildings, but isn’t willing to fund more school psychologists and counselors.
I just wrote a @Network4pubEd letter: Tell Congress to Stop DeVos From Using Emergency Funds to Promote Privatization. Write one here: https://t.co/3pG7wCaycU
By 2025, Iowa will add over 600,000 jobs to economy & almost 70% will require education after HS. While there are 4-year degrees, are 2-year degrees & 1-year certificates to also prepare students to take advantage of opportunities available in Iowa's future. #FDSH#FDCSD
Many students & families "aren't struggling because no one taught them mindfulness; they are struggling because they're fighting generations of oppression in an unjust and unequal system." A short, refreshing piece on keeping this fad in perspective: https://t.co/8RJf8iDFzl

Exciting things coming from the state with a work-based learning clearinghouse to help with equity! Thanks @ryanmwise for keeping school counselors at the table and in the loop! #futurereadyiowa
Teacher, without you, some of your students will not be equipped to succeed in school, work, or life. If you were not in their lives, some of those students passing through your classroom would probably go to jail, or worse. THANK YOU for your work! It is not in vain!
Dear #LoserTeachers - I'm proud to stand beside you in all that you do. But more importantly, as a parent, I stand in awe of all that you do. At first I wanted to say forget @DonaldJTrumpJr's mean and ugly characterization of teachers. But no. Don't forget.
ISCA is proud to announce the winner of our 2019 High School Senior Scholarship is Nou Vue from SCAVO High School in Des Moines. She wrote about her school counselor Carmon Rasmussen's impact on her future - read her winning essay at https://t.co/HiGJpJ1JpZ #NSCW19
If an administrator only enters the classrooms for 'observational' purposes, then it'll always feel like a "gotcha" to the teacher.
If an administrator instead drops encouragement, inspiration, and relational time, then it'll feel like "I gotcha back!"
Gotcha Back > Gotcha.
Congressman Steve King’s recent comments, actions, and retweets are completely inappropriate. We must stand up against white supremacy and hate in all forms, and I strongly condemn this behavior.
And the majority party continues to say they won’t touch IPERS just like they said they would only make minor adjustments to Chapter 20. We need to vote. #Vote2018
@IAGovernor If I hear one more Republican politician falsely brag about all they've done for education while eliminating collective bargaining I'm going to scream.
