Ole Miss fans didn’t rush the field when they beat LSU. Because they expected to win. That says a lot about where the program is in Oxford. Not storming the field when you win a huge game says more about your program than storming the field does.

OLE MISS
When a large chunk of your student body marches away to War, the University Greys, and one third of those students are killed, and 40 percent of them are wounded, from one to SIX times, then you tend to honor and remember them. When your University town of Oxford is burned in the War, and when your University is ordered burned, but barely escapes that fate, you make sure to remember all that. Thus, the Southern symbols and names at Ole Miss: Dixie is sung and played by the band, the Confederate Battle Flag is used at football games, Colonel Rebel is the University mascot, the name REBELS is used, the Confederate Monument is placed on campus (1906), the football team wears grey pants, The University Greys Memorial, Tiffany stained glass window is placed in the Library in 1889, your Civil War dead are on a plaque in the Alumni House, The University Hospital dead on campus are honored and remembered (1862-1864), Buildings are named after Confederates, streets are name Rebel an Confederate drive, the band dresses in Confederate Uniforms, the band carries THE largest Confederate flag in America, Dixie week is run in the Spring, small Battle flags are passed out at ballgames, and many other things I am forgetting are done.
In the last 50 years, many of those things have been stripped away by politically correct Chancellors. 🤮🤧🤧😡😡🤬🤬
Some of the best, and most frequent advice that I got growing up was, just be who you are! I was also often told this sentence below:
"If you are not who you are, then you are nobody!"
I LOVE Ole Miss, but the University of Mississippi seems to have lost their way.
As for me, I AM A REBEL FOR LIFE! - Hotty Toddy - God Bless Mississippian Jeff Davis, the Southern Confederacy, the 11th Mississippi, and the UNIVERSITY GREYS!
"If all else fails, I will retreat up the valley of Virginia, plant my flag on the Blue Ridge, rally around the Scotch-Irish of that region and make my last stand for liberty amongst a people who will never submit to tyranny whilst there is a man left to draw a trigger." -GW
“Why doesn’t the Confederacy just fade away? Is it because we are irresistibly fascinated by catastrophic loss? Or is it something else? Is it because the Confederacy is to this day the greatest conservative resistance to federal authority in American history?” Prof David Blight
