@JetFire_00@Xyless For the record, I was also trying to point out why your take is bad.
Also, idk why you decided to stubbornly argue with dozens of people who know you irl and see it differently. Thats a great way to isolate yourself.
I strongly urge you to reflect on this man
@Xyless I love dissecting propaganda. Basically every piece of media peddles some kind of ideology. Being able to detect it is an increasingly valuable skill.
As for the half-truths, you can still gain something from them. Foreign criticisms of America are often just the truth lol
@JetFire_00 Yeah we would get a *proportional* amount of backlash. We wouldnt have chumps on twitter saying "hey we need to make sure to also condemn these 2 randos" when talking about corrupt oligarchs who did it first. And if we did, they wouldnt be taken very seriously.
@JetFire_00 If you or I went out to a public place and did exactly what he did, we would never get the backlash that he did. You know why? Because we lack the money/power to act upon what the ideology represents. And anyone equating us to Elon would not be fully grasping the situation.
@JetFire_00 And I'm telling you that bringing up "everyone else" equates to defending Elon. His social status makes it a unique case that demands it be addressed in a vacuum.
@JetFire_00 Again, failing to understand the context and implications. Still caught up on the gesture, and not the fact that Elon is a corrupt oligarch.
@JetFire_00 They didnt ignore that part. Thats the part thats getting you flack. Bringing up other not as serious examples is deconstructive in this context.
You are failing to see what makes Elon's case different from literally any other case.
@JetFire_00 No. Trying to equate his gesture with similar gestures in recent history is whataboutism. The context demands scrutiny for his actions, but you distract from it by bringing up instances that are definitively not as serious. Rhetorically, you are defending him.
@JetFire_00 It is not to your benefit, or societies benefit, to defend corrupt oligarchs.
These are people who are above the law, make decisions for you in their interest, and obtained their wealth/power through unethical means, that will never be available to you.
@JetFire_00 No. And neither side will ever say they are equal.
Also its not about the "left" or "right". That is just politcal theatre to divide Americans, and you fell for it.
Its about those with power and money controlling those without. Now tell me which one Elon is.
@JetFire_00 Because the two sides are not equal. The implications and context are not equal. "Calling out both sides" does not add meaningful discourse, and shows a lack of understanding about the situation.
@JetFire_00 No. You are being disingenuous. Whataboutism is a logical fallacy. The context of Elon's gesture demands much more scrutiny than any other recent example.
@JetFire_00 Money controls everything and its impossible to earn a billion dollars with only a salary. You *have* to exploit labor and the markets to get there. Once you're there you're above the law, and can easily influence the govt via lobbying. Wealth absolutely matters in this context.
