Do you want to become Muslim?
You would say the testimony of faith in Arabic, “Ashadu an laa ilaaha illaa Allaah wa ashadu anna Muḥammad rasuul Allah”
The meaning is simple and you can repeat it again in English: “I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that the Prophet Muhammad is the last and final messenger of Allah.”
This is an acceptance of pure monotheism — One God, with no partners or associates. It’s also accepting the Prophet Muhammad as the last prophet among all the prophets throughout history, including Jesus, Moses, Abraham, all the way back to Adam.
Once you believe this in your heart, you have accepted Islam!
I see many people with misconceptions that the testimony of faith (shahada) must have witnesses or must be at the mosque. This is not true! It’s great to have a community that knows you for support, but it isn’t a necessity to enter the faith.
After someone becomes Muslim, the next step is to learn about the basics. Start with the 5 Pillars of Islam and learning how to pray! @relayislam is going to start releasing content next week on this! Stay tuned for more!
