What do I mean?

So presumably for Australians, likely UK and a few other countries that love their privacy-invasi…I mean “Online Safety” laws.

Seems you would be required to upload your ID before you can play GTA6- which as of now is a Single Player game.

The biggest dystopic punchline is that these Australian news media are going “good news everyone, you get to surrender your privacy on day 1 when your code in the box is activated! Aren’t you happy?!”

Its obvious to me the game that’s being played here…GTA6 not having discs with the game in it, so you can’t install it offline, and just so happens since you have to download the game, you are required to submit your ID before the game can be played or even downloaded for that matter.

Even if these two decisions are unrelated (doubt) - being digital only, certainly makes it way easier for ID verification demands to be imposed on everyone who bought GTA6, convenient isn’t it?

This is literally going to kill retail gaming.

Completely cutting out the middleman is pretty wild and also cutting off the ability for the game to be sold secondhand.

Lots of stores saw single digit pre-order numbers.

And a lot of them just won’t survive. This game was meant to be the catalyst for them.
