Officially the BEST team photo (+the outtakes 😁). Great job team! Radar data in tornadoes + swarms near where a tornado was forming in the ball if the hook! @DOWFacility@JoshuaWurman@EWolffWX@BlindLeanne ..and Twitterless others 😄
The DOWs have left the building! @PERiLS_Project has come to a close. We had a great experience working with so many students, collecting data in QLCSs. Now the data QC and analysis begins! But 1st…BEST! We will be headed to the plains to study low-level winds in tornadoes!
Our first look at the damage of the #littlerock tornado - the storm continues now into eastern Arkansas. We hope everyone is ok. Our field teams are assessing damage on the ground and bringing us the latest on
@WeatherNation
Nearly a month after it first formed between Indonesia & Australia, and after crossing the Indian Ocean, striking Madagascar & Mozambique, then slowly drifting back east into open water… Cyclone Freddy is once again a tropical storm.
4.5 years in the making.
Master's work published in JGR: Atmospheres (https://t.co/li0SCJhOC0). We explore influences of the westerly wind burst (WWB) on MJO convection characteristics in the Indian Ocean, and propose a mechanism for WWB influences on CAPE and CIN #AGUPubs
So much research goes unnoticed because its story gets lost. I started Convey to help researchers tell the story of their science through quality scientific graphics. Check out our page! #conveyyourscience#scicomm#sciencegraphics#storytelling
WRF users: Has anyone had success introducing an idealized TC (generated from em_tropical_cyclone) into a real WRF simulation?
Using the Bogus TC option in the namelist could be an alternative, but I thought that TC might be more unrealistic...
The number of billion-dollar weather disasters due to windstorms is increasing.
A new, multi-disciplinary research center at #ILLINOIS will work to mitigate the impact of extreme wind events and build community resilience to the disasters they cause. ▶ https://t.co/9YBfjaHKjN
@skydrama@NWSLincolnIL Thank you for all your great reporting Andrew! I wondered if you knew how they determine the official total for "Champaign" given the accumulation gradient across the county?
@afadames This is an interesting observation. I've noticed the exact opposite trend for tornado research, but haven't thought about it in regards to tropical meteorology.
I have found that not many tropical positions are solicited in the U.S., so not sure if that could be a factor...
Hello (twitter) world! Having some trouble finding Tropical Meteorology job postings. Any suggestions for people/lists/institutions/organizations I should subscribe to or follow? #wxtwitter#tropicalwx
