Let me say this loud and clear: Mike Tyson is a legend, and tonight, he reminded us why.
Sure, some people might complain about his age or that the fight wasn’t entertaining enough for them. But for those of us who grew up watching Mike, tonight wasn’t just a fight – it was a moment. Watching him bobbing and weaving in the ring again took me right back to the days when the whole world would stop to watch Tyson fight.
Mike Tyson is the epitome of NEVER GIVE UP. If you don’t know his story, you won’t understand what this fight meant to so many of us.
This is a man whose father abandoned him at a young age, whose mother died when he was just 16, leaving him homeless in Brownsville, Brooklyn, one of the toughest neighborhoods you could imagine. He was in and out of trouble, caught up in a world of crime, but then he found boxing and turned his life around.
At just 20 years old, on November 22, 1986, Tyson made history, defeating Trevor Berbick to become the youngest heavyweight champion ever. He went on to unify the WBC, WBA, and IBF titles, dominating the heavyweight division and cementing himself as one of the greatest to ever step into the ring.
For those of us who lived through those times, seeing Mike step into the ring again was about reliving the magic he gave us. Back then, even people who didn’t care about boxing tuned in when Tyson fought. He was – and still is – the Baddest Man on the Planet.
Yes, Mike has made mistakes in life, and he’s owned up to every single one of them. No excuses, no blame – just accountability and the will to grow. That’s what makes him such an inspiration.
Tonight wasn’t just about boxing. It was about resilience, grit, and redemption. Mike Tyson proved once again why he’s loved by millions. He didn’t just fight in the ring tonight – he fought for his humanity, and for the people who have always believed in him. Tonight was his greatest win ever.
As Tyson himself said, “Greatness is not guarding yourself from the people; greatness is being accepted by the people.”
Well, Mike, the world accepts you. You are and always will be a champion in every sense of the word.
Thank you, @MikeTyson, for reminding us of what true greatness looks like. Cheer to kne of the greatest Athletes of all time! #TysonPaul
A record deal: the Vikings and three-time Pro-Bowl WR Justin Jefferson reached agreement on a four-year, $140 million contract extension that includes $110 million guaranteed and makes him not only the highest-paid WR in NFL history, but the highest-paid non-QB in NFL history, sources tell ESPN.
Jefferson’s deal includes $88.743 million due at signing, the highest non-QB guarantee at signing in NFL history. And it resets the WR market.
WME Football negotiated and confirmed the deal.
