Doctors mistakenly think that working long hours without lunch breaks and/or weekends off signals our "resilience" as healthcare providers...Wrong. It actually signals our inability to effectively negotiate healthier working conditions for ourselves and our loved ones.
A 3rd year medical student on our surgery team told me he was withdrawing from medical school this month. When asked why, he told me..."I just don't know how you guys do it".

Oldest of 10 each, my folks quit elementary (dad) & middle (mom) school in rural México to help make ends meet. So they came to the US to work as farmworkers mostly in rural southwest GA.
