@Kent_in_Utah @justindsweeney What do you think CRT is? What are your feelings about it? I've explained mine. Try that, so we can move this forward.
I can tell I'm bantering with an account with a tiny following who barely posts about politics, and mainly about things we both enjoy: sports.
@Kent_in_Utah @justindsweeney Look, I believe PragerU, and many, many other publications.
And for that matter, you haven't answered my question as to what the alternative is supposed to be.
Name it, and I'll post something from it, but arguments about sources in this case are a dodge. The facts are plain.
@Kent_in_Utah @justindsweeney It cannot stand at all, and that’s where the problem lies.
The concept of systemic racism, along with its evil twin, the idea of white privilege, are basically belief systems. They are not based upon empirical data. Same with unconscious bias, the idea of being born a racist.
@Kent_in_Utah @justindsweeney What is your source we’re supposed to listen to, so I can then pillory it and run around in rhetorical circles about how it’s not good enough?
It’s pointless to say that any conservative source I offer is unworthy, when anything you offer can be accused in the same fashion.
@Kent_in_Utah @justindsweeney That’s just a pernicious accusation smearing conservative media, not fact.
And systemic racism is a major tenet of CRT. If you’re talking about one you’re talking about the other.
@Kent_in_Utah @justindsweeney I should ask, just to be sure: do you consider CRT as just another diversity training program?
I remember 20 years ago when those were benign and helpful.
CRT is something altogether different, and dangerous as it influences corp. training programs, schools, and government.
@Kent_in_Utah @justindsweeney And you realize that CRT is an ideology, right?
The idea that America is systematically racist and a person’s worldview should be based upon race is an ideology. By definition it’s open to interpretation, analysis, and debate.
@Kent_in_Utah @justindsweeney Of course PragerU is an opponent of CRT. I'm an opponent of CRT, as are many people on this thread. There are two sides to a debate. You must hear the other side in a debate, otherwise you're simply in an echo chamber of your own thoughts and beliefs, like Justin has chosen.
@Kent_in_Utah @justindsweeney He mocked PragerU and promptly blocked me. I've been civil. It was bizarre. He just plugged his ears after asking for an honest conversation about a topic. Clearly, he had no intention of having an honest dialogue. Too bad.
@Kent_in_Utah @justindsweeney Well, that's unfortunate.
We'll keep speaking past each other until we're willing to be open-minded.
It's like trying to speak with the Divinity students from Regent University I used to tract into on my mission in Virginia Beach. They were more open-minded than you and Justin.
@Kent_in_Utah @justindsweeney Well, Justin asked for information, just to refuse any ideas he didn't like. The fact we cannot abide views with which we might not like, after openly asking for information about a topic, leads one to believe Justin was simply not honest about wanting to know more about this.
@Kent_in_Utah @justindsweeney Well, that's part of the problem. We cannot communicate with each other when we can't even agree on what the facts are. People have paradigms created by the news sources they want to believe, and refuse to look elsewhere, for fear of altering their preferred paradigms.
@ew_funk @matttheother @IGoBySteve @justindsweeney You realize CRT entered the workplace under the existing system of diversity training, right? They are not the same thing.
I've been in the workforce long enough to recognize the difference. Huge difference!
Perhaps that's the problem. You think it's the same thing? It's not.
@ew_funk @matttheother @IGoBySteve @justindsweeney The fact that this training was pervasive throughout the federal government proves that it was only an academic discussion? Training people about these pernicious ideas is what we're trying to stop, and it was stopped, at least for or five months within the federal government
@Kent_in_Utah @justindsweeney Look, the idea that your race is the most essential element of your existence is antithetical to the American ideal, where our identity and unity comes from allegiance to the Constitution, not blood and soil like some other nations. This is the least racist country on the planet!
