Today, we honour the rich traditions, languages, and cultural heritage of Canada's Indigenous Peoples.

We are grateful for the history of mutual respect and cultural dialogue. Among the symbols of connection between our peoples is the kokum scarf - the vibrant floral headscarf beloved by many Indigenous women in Canada, which traces its roots to traditional Ukrainian embroidery and textile design.

It is a symbol of shared respect and beauty - a quiet testament to how cultures can meet, inspire, and honour one another.
