Well just finished my first play through of Prey (2006), and i have to say i enjoyed every moment of it!
And I had the pleasure of experiencing it on period hardware, on a CRT and with EAX surround sound! ๐ฅณ
Trippy as hell though with all the portals and changing gravity! ๐ตโ๐ซ๐
@gr8_rebellion When I worked on my first collaborative project during my gamedev studies, I created a logic puzzle for draining a vat of acid, in an FPS.
You know what they had me do after the first playtest? Include an "obvious" computer terminal that contained step-by-step instructions.
@ShitpostRock2 New Halo looks and feels ass.
There's no feel, no atmosphere and no punch to anything. And most egregious of all, they sacrificed readability, the cornerstone of any good FPS, for pretty graphics.
@SuperSisi Honestly, I think livestreaming and recording TikTok's in public spaces should be stigmatized a hell of a ot more than they are. While assault is going to far, they should definitely be accosted, shamed and driven off.
It's just peak narcissistic behavior.
@MizoChris Not only that, but even a near lightning strike can induce current in a long ethernet cable and a fry the port or NIC.
I once had both a motherboard ethernet port and the router port it connected to, die on me that way. At least I had a dual-port board and extra router ports.
@Asmongold@mahirusoldier To be fair, I've seen more than a few women(and men) in their 30's complain about being carded every time they want to buy booze, becaus they "look too young", even here in the west.
@BeanJuiceStudio A bit of both really.
When I was a kid in the early 90/00's my mom bought me a lifetime license for an engine called 3DRad, that I played around with for years.
But it was much later, as an adult, that i studied gamedev at uni for 3 years and became a real programmer.
Finally implemented High Scores in my SHMUP... only took me 4 years to get around to it. ๐ค
My recent work on a software engineering project course has given me greater familiarity and confidence with JSON serialization and deserialization, so bye bye PlayerPrefs solutions!!! ๐
@RetroSpaceGame Savescummed as a kid.
Savescummed a a teen.
Still savescumming as an adult.
And sometimes savescumming can actually bite you in the ass, so it's as much a skill as anything.
@HiTechLoLife1 Nah, people just need to stop obsessing over the latest cutting-edge hardware and be willing to accept "good enough".
The world is overflowing with hardware produced over the past 15 years, much of which is still perfectly servicable in 2026, for general computing and gaming.
Unpopular Opinion: PC hardware manufacturers should fully suppor their hardware, for as long as it's technically feasible.
E.g. Nvidia should continue to support Pascal and Maxwell GPU's because they still fully support the basic DirectX 12, and can still run modern DX12 titles.
@swejpn Just been dealing with a nasty bout myself, the last few days. My goto is Fishermans Friend with salmiak flavor (we Swedes do love our licorice) and I've spent the last few days binging amazon prime. Also been nibbling spicy sausage, which helps a little for me.
This has simply got to be the easiest CPU upgrade I've performed, in my entire life!!!
No messing with heatsinks, thermal paste or temperamental retention systems. Just yank the old CPU and insert the new one, like RAM?
Why did we ever stop with this?(Rhetorical question) ๐ค
