@georgermonte Half right. Hiring managers don't care once you're in the interview. The cert acronym is what gets you past the 6-second resume scan to even reach the hiring manager. Two different gates.

"$150 for an AWS exam" sounds reasonable.

Until you do the math:

- 2% of a US engineer's monthly salary
- 11% in Brazil
- 14% in India
- 25% in Egypt
- 29% in Nigeria

The cert market hasn't caught up to where the talent actually lives.

The vendors charge globally flat USD because their accounting needs one number. The engineer paying it isn't doing global math. They're doing local math.

@ArtemPolynko CISSP I'd have to say. Boring answer I know, but it's the only one on the list that consistently makes it past the recruiter's scan. OSCP teaches more; CISSP will get you more interviews.

Mistake 5: Skipping verification.

You did the work. The vendor confirmed it. Now make it visible: LinkedIn, CV, portfolio. The cert is worthless if recruiters can't see it.
