Thanks to @MarkSlater__ and @SDesbruslais, final musicians in our Victorian music recording marathon; Mark and Simon's help both initiating the project and overseeing/ participating in performances has made this work possible @MusicHullUni @BurtonConstable@UniOfHull#Hull#music
It's all go @BurtonConstable as we prepare to record some of the Hall's incredible, unique collections of 19th Century music - perhaps not heard here for centuries! Thanks to @SDesbruslais and Mark Slate @UniOfHull for getting this project off the ground!

On this day in 1848 Mary Barbara Chichester wrote 'this revolution has been quite extraordinary' after fleeing Paris with her 3 children amid bloodshed through streets lined with soldiers. Though a very different conflict from Ukraine, her diary is haunting.. #Ukraine#violence
Our Great Hall has had a temporary change of decor, with objects moved from the Dining Room so that the room and objects can be deep cleaned. The copper samovar with stag-head decoration was made in Hull in 1840 - an ornate Victorian tea urn!

It's hard to believe we're at the end of the Hall's Christmas open season! The grounds and outbuildings (including the Orangery with these beautiful edible baubles) will still be open, however, closing only over Christmas itself 😊 @VisitHull@VisitEastYorks#Hull#Christmas#sun
Last Thursday was spent deciphering Leut-Colonel Charles Chichester and wife Mary Barbara's C19th letters and diaries. Their travels in Europe, Canada, the Caribbean and more will be a key part of @BurtonConstable's next exhibition

"Mackerel sky, mackerel sky. Never long wet, and never long dry". Such rhymes were the only way of predicting weather for much of @BurtonConstable's history- today it proved true, as I drove home in the wet! @VisitHull@VHEY_UK@metoffice#clouds
