I'd like to share a very important update about the future of the Library of Ohara. I'd appreciate if you could give it a read if you have the time (TL;DR summary at the end):
I'll try to keep this as brief as I can, but unfortunately The Library of Ohara is at a very real risk of having to shut down in the future.
For starters, on the good side, I'd like to say real quick that my health over the past few months has been slowly recovering. I have a long way to go but I'm slowly improving and getting better. I still have a long way to go as I'm still suffering a lot from symptoms, but I'm trying to take it slowly.
Unfortunately though, this health relapse has made things quite difficult for me recently as the increased medical costs have also taken a hole in my finances, and being able to work less has caused my earnings to plummet considerably too.
The issue is that this comes during a period of time in which views for One Piece videos have been considerably decreasing over the past year or two across the entire platform. This isn't a phenomena limited to just my channel, but one I've discussed with creators of all sizes and places, from creators with over a million subs to creators from places like France or Spain. Other people have made better explanations on the subject, but we largely believe that the YouTube algorhythm is being oversaturated with low quality and AI generated content that has caused a lot of our collective views to decrease over time.
And while I'd like to think I'm not one to obsess over views, this has had a real effect on the earnings of my channel, to the point I've been secretly producing the Library of Ohara at a loss (losing more money than I make just from survival costs alone) for the past couple years. Thanks to the savings I've built up over the time it was profitable, I've been able to get away with losing money so far, but now coupled with the rising costs my health has taken, it's not becoming sustainable anymore.
I don't like having to ask this, but if you are able to help out, I would appreciate if you considered pledging to my Patreon to help keep the Library of Ohara sustainable. Of course, if you yourself are struggling as well, please don't worry, but if you can afford it and would like to help content like mine continue to be made, I'd appreciate if you could help out during this difficult time!
For those who pledge to my Supernova tier or higher ($10 a month), you can get early access to the Interactive One Piece World Map Project. This is a massive project I've been working on for the past 5 years to make a fully interactive map of the world with an incredible level of detail and extensive features to help you learn more about this beautiful world. The map will be available for free as an open resource for the community at some point in the near future, but you can access it right now by pledging to the aforementioned tier! Link to Patreon can be found in my Twitter bio!
I'm really sorry about having to ask help like this, but I would like to keep betting on making high quality content and special projects like this one rather than start creating low quality entertainment like YouTube now increasingly demands. And again, even if you can't help, just being there for me this whole time has been an incredible honor. Thank you for being there with me on this journey and I hope that you can find all the joy in your life as well!
TL;DR: My current health issues and difficulties over YouTube's oversaturation of low quality content have made it difficult for the Library of Ohara to remain sustainable long term. If you are able to help out, I would be very grateful if you could help support my content through Patreon, and you can get access to my Interactive World Map Project early through it! Thank you for all your support!!
Barbara Troy, my mother, is a One Piece character now 💙🏴☠️ Be sure to pause on the newspaper in One Piece Season 2 Episode 5 to see an on-screen "One Piece-ified" tribute to my mother's life. My mom bought me my first volume of #OnePiece in 2003 and watched as I maintained being a fan over the years. She knew exactly what the story meant to me and got to see the first season air, loved it, wore T-shirts supporting the show, and was sure to tell anyone who came into her bar to watch every episode and get ready for Season 2 to see what her son was helping write. I have no doubts that I gravitated to One Piece precisely because of her, because I admired how inclusive Eiichiro Oda's story was for differently abled people. It was the first story I saw with characters that had parental figures like mine. See, my mother lost her leg and mobility in her arm when I was young, but just like all of the strong-willed characters in One Piece who continually push, smile, and laugh through adversity, Mom never gave up. Even when told straight to her face, she'd never walk again. In the same way "never" and "no" wouldn't work for Luffy, Barbara Troy learned to walk again-- and even dance, but most important of all, she laughed. A lot. Whenever I'd be feeling down, I'd look to her, see her smiling through everything, and it would put me back on track. She inspired me the same way Luffy and the Straw Hats inspire others, and I'm so proud to see her name up there. I know she'd get a real kick out of it. I sure do. Special thanks to the showrunners for offering me this space to honor her, easily one of the most generous and meaningful acts anyone has ever done for me, not only in this business, but ever. And the biggest thanks of all will (of course) always go out to Mom, whose immeasurable love, support, and determination were always my compass-- and even though those don't work in the Grand Line, I've got an Eternal Pose now that points right to her. 😁🏴☠️💙

Una serie de podcasts para entender mejor la industria del videojuego, tanto si haces o quieres hacer videojuegos como si te interesan las cloacas y las tripas del desarrollo. Va hilo:
My opinions which don't matter but still might piss you off -
KCD2 - A game that was not made for everyone but for the ones it was made for, it's easily one of the greatest games of ALL TIME. Highly immersive gameplay, relatable authentic characters, a beautiful real open world that doesn't hold your hand, & a story that doesn't try to be something it's not. Cinematics are on par with Hollywood in terms of visual presentation which is impressive for a video game. Absolutely love to see games like this on the GotY list & am thankful to have a studio like Warhorse that is willing to take risks & do things differently. My GotY 🥇
E33 - An incredibly emotional experience with mostly fun gameplay. The story & characters & the way all of this is all presented I think is where this game truly shines. It has fostered emotional attachment with players on levels that I have not seen from a game in a long time. This game has opened my eyes a bit to the JRPG genre & I'm very thankful for that. I think it wins GotY which is fine by me. The devs at Sandfall deserve all the success!
Death Stranding 2 - From what I have played it is once again an incredibly unique experience compared to the industry as a whole, but I find this one just doesn't hit as hard as the first one. The excitement of land navigation is lost a bit due what feels like too many vehicles / easier to navigate terrain. With that said, holy crap once again Kojima comes in hot with weird trippy interesting stories that are always presented in the highest quality you can get in the gaming industry. I want this guy to be making games for as long as I am alive. He's not normal & I like that.
Hades 2 - Overall I'm enjoying what I have played so far but I find the repeat gameplay to be a bit too much. That's kinda the point of rougelites though, so it's not really a legit criticism more so it's just not my fav type of game. I see a TON of people that absolutely love this game to death though, and I'm all for supporting games that really hit the mark for people. So I'm happy it has been nominated.
Silksong - Enjoying this one but like with DS2, I just don't feel the excitement that I felt when I played the first game. Amazing high quality game though that always reminds me that platformers can still hold up in modern times. Some of the coolest art work out there, & I greatly respect games that are not afraid to be difficult.
Donkey Kong - I have not played or thought about DK since I was like 10 years old 🤣 Kinda want to try it though... I just don't find myself caring about Nintendo anymore these days. I much prefer darker more mature type games.
All in all I love the nomination list this year & I am quietly celebrating that none of these games are generic soulless hold your hand check list quest markers everywhere type games. Most if not all of these games are unique, they really make you think & contemplate things, & the majority of them all force players to overcome actual challenges. If this is the future of gaming, yeah I'm happy with the direction it may be heading.
