Michelle and I were deeply saddened to hear about the passing of a true giant, the Reverend Jesse Jackson. We will always be grateful for Jesse's lifetime of service, and the friendship our families share. We stood on his shoulders. We send our deepest condolences to the Jackson family and everyone in Chicago and beyond who knew and loved him.
#RestInPower to Rev. Jesse Jackson. Today, we honor a giant whose voice, courage, and love for our people shaped generations. Reverend Jesse Jackson was not only a civil rights icon—he was family to the NAACP.
His legacy sits at the heart of our work and at the center of this nation’s fight for justice. We carry his light forward. https://t.co/4BSEsITjD3

4 out of the 5 Hurricanes in the Atlantic this season have been Cat 4 or Higher (Imelda being the only other).
#Melissa is making sure you won't forget her name. 🌀
Jamaica Residents:
This is a great share. This is the 100-year flood map for riverine flooding.
If you live in a flood plain highlighted in blue, I urge you to consider relocating elsewhere for the duration of #Melissa.
If you know anyone who lives in these areas, alert them.
My Lord, I ask you to protect our brothers and sisters in Jamaica and all those in the path of #HurricaneMelissa. Minimize any damage that may be inevitable and grant them courage and steadfastness🤲🏼
Pray for my country, and anyone else in the path of #HurricaneMelissa. We have never had a hurricane at this magnitude hit the island directly🥺. The last devastating direct hit was 37 years ago, Hurricane Gilbert.
We are praying fervently for everyone in the path of Hurricane Melissa in the Caribbean, and for the New Yorkers who are worried about their family members.
Our city stands ready to support all those impacted.

Someone said: Normalize celebrating this:
– a roof over your head
– a warm shower
– having clean water
– a day without pain
– moments of gratitude
These are blessings too.
