The news misidentifies the actual problem. Yosemite could accommodate more people 30 years ago than it does now. The Park has been mismanaged for decades and lawsuits by special interest groups that don’t want regular people to have access to the parks- Decisions over the years now forcing families to drive in and out of the park each day rather than stay and enjoy. Yosemite has far fewer lodge rooms to stay overnight, far fewer reliable valley shuttle buses to get around (forcing people to drive their own cars), far fewer parking spots, fewer retail space (buildings now sit empty), fewer eateries, fewer high sierra accommodations when compared to 30 years ago. They need to build back the rooms, add more campsites, RV slots, bring back reliable shuttle buses and add back parking areas and fix the valley roads.

It was great! 30 years ago there were more places to park, more places to stay overnight, more places to eat, more retail, and more reliable running shuttles (every 15 min). More families have to skip the shuttle and are now forced to make day trips and drive in and out of the park.
