@daviddadummy Heard only my criteria are a bit more vague! I’m not sure I could tick a bird I’ve NEVER seen. If it’s a bird I’ve already seen and I feel really confident IDing the song then I’ll happily add it to year/patch list etc.

@daviddadummy The way I think of it is, am I in a better position to ID this bird for myself in the future. If it’s a speck in the distance and someone tells me what it is, even if it’s someone I completely trust, I’m not going to tick it when I can’t see what it is for myself

@daviddadummy I count birds if I feel confident in the ID, even if it’s someone else’s ID. So if it’s a bird I’m not familiar with and someone says It’s an X, I’d ask them to explain why it’s an X, and I’d need to be able to see/hear what they’re describing
