i know nothing about sonder as a person, but advertising a gamified trading platform to her audience of valorant players that likely have little financial knowledge is not the greatest look imo (especially with a referral link, so she gets some of the $ they lose)
@sonderzsq@ryohhno At the end of the day it's well studied that the vast majority of traders lose money. Talk about learning and teaching all you want, but you're making a clear effort to advertise it as a fun little game to try to grow your platform.
@sonderzsq@ryohhno You clearly have an understanding of the following you have (comprised of mostly val players), which generally tend to be a younger and more impressionable group. I acknowledge that you talk about ways to learn how to trade, but only after shilling and glorifying your platform
@ryohhno Are you truly naïve to the fact that some people will get starry eyed at the possibility of winning easy money after seeing these obvious ad posts she's making, and then deposit their savings just to lose it? Just shameful to hide the risks when it comes to something like this
@ryohhno the problem is that you're having a pro esports player tweet about it treating it like it's just another video game!!! there's a winner and loser to each trade, and shilling it like it's just a fun little game is incredibly deceptive, there are far more losers than winners
feels basically on the same tier as a gambling sponsorship, except arguably even worse because it’s so easy for someone that has no knowledge of how to trade to be way too overconfident and just throw their money away
and i say this as someone that was involved in crypto in the past (and still trade on occasion) it just feels incredibly reckless to advertise a platform like this when it generally doesn’t match with your audience at all
