The great souls of the Anna Dahlbäck Memorial Fund celebrated and recognised my human rights and environmental work in Stockholm, Sweden, on Friday, 11 September 2026.
I am grateful to Madam Chairperson; the members of the Board of the Anna Dahlbäck Memorial Fund; Professor Wrange; Professor Ebbesson; friends from the Swedish Bar, from Swedish PEN, from Amnesty, from Civil Rights Defenders, from the Olof Palme International Centre and the Raoul Wallenberg Institute; colleagues from the law faculties of Stockholm and Uppsala — and to Anna's family, for recognising in my work the same spirit that animated Anna Dahlbäck herself: courage, integrity and a deep revulsion against injustice.
She was a lawyer who served Amnesty Sweden and ran her own practice, and who spent her life battling impunity, torture and injustice in its many forms. Even in death she continues to inspire human rights defenders and social justice activists the world over.
I am grateful too to the lawyers, activists, writers, journalists, politicians, friends and family with whom I have worked on a litany of human rights, environmental and artistic causes. What a journey this is that I am sharing with you, comrades. The honour, the work and everything connected to it belong to the Lord. Glory to Him.
Sweden has a fine atmosphere and fine food (if you go to the right places). The Swedes welcomed me, dined with me, and we had rich conversations. They gave me the diploma you see me holding in the photograph — handed to me personally, as the 2026 recipient, by Kerstin Dahlbäck, Anna's mother and Chair of the Board of the Fund. It was refreshing.
Early morning rapid fire before the memories fade:
1. Who are these two gentlemen?
2. Which @MakGuildLeague do they belong to?
3. What was your BIGGEST highlight yesterday?
📌 Wrong answers may attract immediate disciplinary action from the Dept of Guild Humiliation.
An inter-ministerial committee was set up to ensure the paving of roads across UG, especially in K’LA, to help reduce air pollution. @ABarirega, ED @nemaug, thanked CDF @mkainerugaba for directing the UPDF Engineering Brigade to support the effort. #InternationalAirSafetyDay
@amronaldo Those that steal billions are forgiven and those that steal scrubs that fall from the looting table pay a heavy price. That is hypocrisy at the highest level. At some point i am forced to believe that these people are in bed with corruption
LASPNET is conducting a two days training of Justice Actors on Case Management, Violent Extremism, Drug Abuse & Money Laundering from 13th to 14th August 2026 at Lake View Resort Hotel -MbararaCity.
Today, at Speke Resort Munyonyo, I chaired the 2nd Extraordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Troop-Contributing Countries to the African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM). I pointed out that Uganda’s involvement in Somalia was never because we share a border, but out of principle and strategy. We rejected the extremism that seeks to impose itself on African societies and stood in solidarity with our brothers and sisters.
Africa has a rich history of respecting one another’s identity, and I remain confident that, through our collective efforts, we shall continue supporting Somalia’s journey towards lasting peace and stability. I thank the Troop-Contributing Countries and their leaders for their commitment and sacrifice in the pursuit of a peaceful and stable Somalia.
Restrictions on free expression, peaceful assembly and association are shrinking civic space in Uganda, @UNHumanRights warns.
As fear grows, more people are reluctant to speak out, while civil society and journalists face mounting pressure.

In his reflection about what Christianity should say to oppressed black South Africans during Apartheid, Steve Biko said that the Bible should also preach to the black man that “it is a sin to allow oneself to be oppressed”. One of the people that have vehemently resisted committing this sin is Dr Kizza Besigye. You do not oppress him with his permission, and he won’t cooperate in fostering his own oppression - even if it means dying in protesting abuse.
Where is Muwanga Kivumbi?
His family, friends, and the public deserve answers. No one should disappear without explanation or due process.
We demand accountability and the immediate clarification of his whereabouts.

@JoviaKusiima_ The right to safety and protection from online harm deserves far more attention. No one should have to choose between having a voice and being subjected to harassment or abuse. Digital spaces should be safe for everyone.
