Meta is paying $100M signing bonuses to steal AI engineers - Anthropic got Karpathy anyway.
Andrej Karpathy moved from Slovakia to Toronto at 15
wanted to do quantum computing
got bored, switched to AI
now he's building the next Claude at Anthropic
here's his story:
> studied under Geoffrey Hinton - the Godfather of AI
> PhD at Stanford under Fei-Fei Li - she taught him how to think
> coined the term "vibe coding" - guiding AI instead of writing code
> one of the founding members of OpenAI
> Elon Musk personally recruited him to lead Tesla Autopilot AI
> now on Anthropic's pre-training team - teaching Claude how to understand the world
in 2012 he wrote: "we are very, very far, this depresses me"
10 years later he's one of the people building the systems he thought were impossible
Meta reportedly offers OpenAI engineers $100M signing bonuses to switch sides
and even Karpathy tweeted:
"I've never felt this much behind as a programmer"
the AI race is moving so fast even the people building it can't keep up
My neighbor won the lottery.
Nothing crazy just enough money to change his life.
The next morning, he still left for work at 6 a.m.
Everyone thought he was humble.
Three weeks later, we found out the real reason.
Someone hid a self-replicating worm inside 37 npm packages.
Written in Rust.
Hidden behind an eBPF kernel rootkit.
Talking to its operator over Tor.
It steals 86 environment variables.
AWS keys. GCP keys. Vault secrets. Kubernetes tokens.
Your Anthropic API key. Your OpenAI key.
Your Exodus wallet seed phrase.
Then it uses your own npm credentials to republish itself into your packages.
So your code infects the next developer.
Who infects the next one.
The commits were backdated up to 13 years.
The commit author name was βclaude.β
The malware named itself after the AI to hide in plain sight.
The attacker also left their own wallet recovery phrase in the debug data.
Nobody is having a good day.
Check your preinstall hooks.
@ankur_datta_007@TosinOlugbenga What I meant was that prisma takes a lot of memory space for migrating, I experienced this when I was deploying my app on a shared hosting platform but kept hitting memory limit not until I changed to sequelize
I met this girl in school church and we started dating. From 200 level to 400 level, I worked hard and paid all her school fees because she said her parents abandoned her and told her to fend for herself. I supported her fully so she could graduate comfortably. After 4 years, I proposed late 2024 and she accepted. I thought she was the love of my life. But a close friend kept warning me not to trust her and advised me to test her loyalty. I foolishly used that same friend to set up the testβ¦β¦β¦
@MNEYln I 100% feel your pain, its what am going through, she told me she wanted to change things here at home to something better, helped see the fee was paid for 4years, its the 5th year and she is about to finish skool, she said i stink, i snore and its not easy living with a fool.
@williamsamobi She is wrong about saying firstborn burden shit... don't let any fucking body make you feel your birthright is bad or too heavy...so if you are rich or every member of ur family is doing fine on their own, will she still say the same thing.
She just want to politely leave you
