The Christian life comes down to one decision, made over and over: will you rely on the Holy Spirit, or go it alone?

Did the cross change God's heart toward us, or reveal the love He already had?
God didn't begin loving us after Jesus died. His love is why Christ came.
The cross reveals both God's justice and His extraordinary love.
📖 Romans 5:8 | John 3:16

““Therefore know that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments;” Deuteronomy 7:9
It’s always amazing to me how people will break God’s commands over and over again, resist His loving warnings, and then blame Him when hardship hits, often because of their own actions. They demand to know, “Why did God let this happen to me? Why did God do this?”
I’m not suggesting that this is always the case when bad things happen. But often there is cause and effect. When we do wrong things, we reap the consequences. There’s no need to scratch our heads and wonder why. And there’s certainly no need to blame God when we reap the bad things we’ve sown.
A better option is to embrace the notion of reaping what we sow by sowing good things. Paul put it this way: “So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith” (Galatians 6:9–10 NLT).
What are you sowing now that you will one day reap?
When we give everything to God and obey Him, the consequences are in His hands. We can trust that He will provide, protect, and take of of us no matter what.
God doesn’t always allow His servants to see the results of their work. He may do so, but when He doesn’t, He wants us to walk by faith. When we walk only by sight, we lose the ability to trust God. But when we trust in His plan for our lives, His words will not be in vain (Isaiah 55:11).
Think of Elijah in 1 Kings; burned out, completely exhausted, and Queen Jezebel had just threatened his life. Elijah told God, “The people of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword, and I, even I only, am left, and they seek my life, to take it away” (1 Kings 19:10). He was scared, stopped trusting in God and felt alone. It was time to quit.
Maybe you're in a similar dreary place, where you have no control over our circumstances. In the midst of stress and faulty introspection, we may believe we’re not making a difference. Like Elijah, we may conclude that we have no value and should just give up.
But the Lord responded to Elijah in 1 Kings. He didn’t speak through the mighty power of nature but rather in a whisper. His quiet voice reminded Elijah that He was still in control.
"...In every temptation and every sexual temptation, there's a point where you have the choice to either walk away from it or allow it to happen..."

What does faith look like when everything you prayed would change… doesn’t?

Let’s say I offered you a one-way fare to a place you’ve never been before. Maybe you’ve never traveled there, and you’re excited about the adventure.
But I’d suggest you find out where that one-way fare is taking you before you get too excited!
If you discovered it was a one-way ticket to Siberia in the dead of winter, that wouldn’t be very good news.
But if you found out it was a one-way ticket to Maui, Hawaii, that would be a very different story!
The same is true of the afterlife. We decide in this life where we will spend eternity.
Where are you headed?
There is no such thing as an unimportant member of the body of Christ. That includes you.
