@peterfrknpan@Takingxrays@goni_lessan@TDOnline The AR-15 is a civilian semi auto rifle. The AK 47 is full auto. They couldn’t be more different. The AR-15 is in no way the US answer to the AK.
@RobertFRoscoe@goni_lessan@TDOnline An AK 47 (full auto) is a far more lethal weapon because of the rate of fire. Which is why it’s incredibly difficult to obtain one (and rightfully so).
@TrippySocialist We have a responsibility as a moral society to not let one another go hungry. But no one has a right to food. Rights and responsibilities couldn’t be more different.
@grundleinspectr@CBSNews We’ve also already bought enough covid vaccines to fully vaccinate the country multiple times. This is for big pharma, not for protecting Americans.
@DJoseph31@grundleinspectr@CBSNews And a very small percentage of that six percent actually need the vaccine. In general, kids that young don’t get very sick at all from covid.
@grundleinspectr@CBSNews Children don’t get seriously ill from covid unless they have some other health condition. Certainly wouldn’t need 10 million doses for that small segment of the population.
@RobertFRoscoe@goni_lessan@TDOnline The distinction is actually critically important. Reading AK 47 gives the impression it was a full auto assault rifle, but to see that it wasn’t, you’d have to read the article to the near bottom. Just helping to keep others informed!
I’d be perfectly okay raising the legal age to purchase firearms to 25. This is when the prefrontal cortex is fully developed.
By that very same reasoning though, I’d also like to see the voting age raised to 25.
@jratnerd@GlobalTom@BernieSanders The right to bear arms isn’t a right to arms. A right to arms implies that the government must give out free guns. A right to bear arms means that citizens have the liberty to use their own means to purchase firearms.
We can have policies surrounding gun safety that don’t infringe on the rights of law-abiding Americans. Increase the scrutiny for weapons with particular calibers of ammunition, decrease magazine sizes, etc.
