I never reframed my argument, I was replying to the dumbassery you were spewing don’t get that twisted. 207 million downloads is a lot when you break down the math and see that only averages to about 800k unique people out of a peak 1.2-1.4 million, your mistake is assuming I didn’t know how the shit works. Stop assuming shit it just makes you look stupid
Use common sense man, logs show 1m players, obviously that’s not the entire population. a single patch download for questie shows 1.3m(2m on one for the Chinese client that is much less common for them to use). what does that tell you? A majority of people use it and always have used it or an equivalent to it pre classic release. The math isn’t hard. The numbers are right there. It’s not 2004 anymore get the addon like 80% of the other players. stop forcing yourselves to be miserable just to cry about it online.
The math completely destroys your argument, and a basic understanding of the game explains why. Unlike Retail WoW, Classic has zero native map markers, quest pins, or target tracking. The base UI forces you to read paragraphs of text to guess coordinates. Outside of a microscopic fraction of "immersion purists," the entire casual and hardcore player base refuses to level without a map helper.
This is why the data matches up so perfectly:
Classic Active Raiders(https://t.co/BpXhLmOtmp logs): ~500k – 1M players globally.
Unique Launcher Updates per Questie Patch File: ~700k – 1.1M downloads.
Because CurseForge updates are tracked per unique app client per file, you have roughly 800,000 unique systems running the addon out of a ~1 million player pool. That is a 75-80% saturation rate. This is consistent with all individual versions, not just the lower end of MoP that you posted
You tried to move the goalposts to "Betas and Chinese versions" (even though China typically uses completely separate localized clients like NetEase/BigFoot, more so than CurseForge), and you still failed the basic math. Congratulations. You proved yourself wrong with your own screenshot.
@VTXShiva@tomkektv@frogpitgaming Hey dingus questie is only available for classic. These numbers are from curse forge, numbers that only started being recorded when it was released on curse forge, FOR classics release. Fuck man research isn’t that hard to do
@VTXShiva@tomkektv@frogpitgaming If you do the math and compare it to the best estimate of the classic wow population we can get without official confirmation, it comes out to STILL being 80-90% using it. Maybe do some research before trying to “well actually 🤓” someone. I’m no mathematician but 80% is a lot
@tomkektv@frogpitgaming 207 million on tbc. Its not 2004 bro just get the addon or go back to school and learn to read above a 1st grade level, ive seen toddlers color puzzle toys with more difficulty than any classic quest
@curseNA2 Ya ban the guy single handily bringing thousands of players into your new game. It isn’t blizzards or asmons fault that you guys have become so soft that words on the internet hurt your fragile feelings.
@Acherusfinest@TheoryForge Except them saying it’s built on the foundation of classic but will evolve in its own direction separate from both classic and retail?
@freckxiwow@Warcraft@Blizzard_Ent Seems to me like he is really immersing himself into the world and truly embracing the social aspect you all said was gone, is that not the true spirit of classic? He’s literally just bringing to light how toxic the WoW community is and the real reason wow isn’t social anymore.
@thatcyborgbitch@n0valith Gamers aren’t what they used to be. The people who are gonna share that social mindset is going to be few. There’s a reason every version of classic has drastically fallen off within months
@thatcyborgbitch@n0valith I think you need to stop living in 2004. The journey stops being interesting after you’ve made it a few times. No mob tagging doesn’t do what you think. People aren’t grouping for the sake of being social they are doing it out of… your not gonna like this but it’s convenience
@n0valith Even being built on the foundation of classic, it’s meant evolve into its own game separate from classic and retail. But for that to happen change will have to happen
