Not everything has to be a thing. When you make videos, it’s super easy to get distracted by a new topic, a new item, a new format. You can def try things, but you don’t need to turn the whole car around. Stay on a path a little bit longer.
Ideas are worthless. I don't say that to be combative, but ideas are just a seed. If you don't take action on it, if you don't water that seed, it never grows. Why do so many people have "wouldn't it be cool..." ideas? Because ideas are free, but execution is expensive.
“What does this look like at the end?” This is a question I ask new creators. Rarely do people think about the ideal form of their business. The point isn’t to build that version overnight. It gives you a goal to work backwards from.
Half a loaf is better than no loaf. If you’re doing social media, something is better than nothing, especially at first. You don’t need “a strategy” to start, you need to get in the groove. A content creator, makes content.
Becoming a content creator is easier than you think. Take out your phone, rip a rant about anything for 30s to 1min. If you mess up, do another take. Now the hard part, post it. Ding ding you are now content creator, congrats 🎉
Anyways “doing” social media as a job is often times pretty good. It’s a blessing to work in the field. Before you hop into it whole heartedly though, ask yourself honestly, “what do I want out of the media I create”?
10 years on this cursed app so it’s yap time. A lot of things have changed. I remember thinking video game let’s plays were going to be my ticket to internet fame. Turns out video editing was a lot more secure of a job.
Having been on both ends of content creation, the creator side is suprisingly difficult. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a sick as hell job but it’s still a job. Even when you don’t feel like videos, you must make videos. It boils down to create, or perish.
The reward for being good at social media is you get to keep doing social media. Something to keep in mind. In the beginning I didn’t know any of this and maybe for the better. You almost need that naive high energy to grind through the start.
