I donโt think thereโs anyone who has explained this thing so academically and clearly. Even @MbuyiseniNdlozi will understand this time around ๐๐ป๐๐ป
News24 is owned by Naspers. Naspers owns Takelot (which hires illegal immigrants at their wearhouses) and also owns MrD which benefits from illegal immigrants (drivers). This article is not about principles or caring for democracy but vested business interests.
No. When they reject them, they can appeal. And then they get given a permit. And with that permit, they are protected to live here for as long as the appeal process is underway. The issue is there is a backlog in appeals, meaning you can stay here 19 years or 19 months or whatever time, while your appeal is being processed.
I could list countless occasions when South Africans desperately needed this level of police and military intervention.
When womenโs bodies were discovered in Kempton Park, when zama zamas terrorised communities, when residents of Westbury and Eldorado Park pleaded for protection from gang violence, when communities in the Cape Flats were caught in deadly gang wars, when construction mafias threatened workers and businesses, when extortion syndicates targeted spaza shops and schools, when women and children were raped and murdered and when communities lived in fear of armed criminals, where was this level of urgency?
Yet when violent clashes erupt between locals and foreign nationals, soldiers are swiftly deployed.
The question is why ordinary South Africans cannot expect the same urgency, resources and protection when their own communities are under siege.
Why does it take a foreign nationals involvement for the government to demonstrate that it has the capacity to act?@mmkubayi@Khu_Ntshavheni@ParliamentofRSA
A murderer who left Japan for SA, overstayed his visa. Home Affairs couldnโt pick this up for 17 years.
Home Affairs cannot even locate where the โasylum seekersโ are in the country. They get their permits and get released into the communities, and Home Affairs relies on the goodwill of the applicants should there be any issue on their status.
The Reserve Bank is likely to hike interest rates again in November, with inflation expected to exceed 5% when the September data is released.

I just interviewed the DDG at home affairs on #TheCMShow about the much talked about Asylum applications at refugee reception centres. He confirmed that the department will NO LONGER turn someone away at the door simply because they entered the country illegally. He admits that this is going to overwhelm the department because some illegal immigrants may take advantage and go queue and claim to be asylum seekers. This will cause an administration burden.

There have been numerous times in Cyril Ramaphosa's political career as an ANC member where he promised us jobs. Let me just give you a list of the recent ones:
1. January 2019: Promised to create roughly 257,000 jobs per year as part of the ANC's economic strategy.
2. October 2020: Announced a COVID-19 economic recovery plan targeting 800,000 to 875,000 jobs and work opportunities in the 2020/21 financial year.
3. February 2022: Promised in the SONA to finalize a social compact within 100 days to grow the economy and create jobs.
4. February 2024: Promised to create or support 2.5 million "job opportunities" over a five-year period during the launch of the ANC's 2024 election manifesto.
5. Recurring SONAs: Labour and political analysts note that specific job targets and commitments have been reiterated in nearly every annual State of the Nation Address since he took office in 2018.
All those promises were not met. Cyril is a liar. He gives false hope for votes.
