I'm now verified on VGen! ✨
I didn't think I'd be verified before the new year, it feels like an early Christmas gift. ❤️
Thank you to everyone who commissioned me and followed me, you made this possible. I couldn’t have done it without you ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡
@KalmiaLune I think it’s fine. 😊Just make sure you clearly explain what it is so clients aren’t misled, maybe even mention the artist you’re learning from so they don’t expect the wrong style. 🩷
Dear artists, can we normalize having a waitlist? Can we normalize not taking full payment upfront until the commission is actually started? Situations like this don’t just hurt your reputation, they hurt ALL OF US who take commissions seriously.
Please, let’s do better.
I commissioned some art in December, I didn't hear anything for a while so I sent them a message in march for an update and they said sorry for the late reply and they had been dealing with health issues and they will get it to my in 2 weeks, which is totally understandable so I thanked them and waited, after another month I messaged again and I sent them a few emails and messages now with no response and its now about to be June. I'm upset because this is an artist I wanted to commission for so long and I still hope I get the art, but also worried ill never get it, since I paid for it in December too and haven't had any updates. but I keep hoping. I also hope they are ok because they said they had health issues. I just want a reply but idk what to do T^T sorry for the rant
Been seeing this as an artist point of view for a while. (Background been a freelance artist since 2015 doing cons and commissions)
Personal is personal. (No extra fee)
Monetized is no fee, my view point is, they paid for the work and at the same time because you got paid by the client it will be promo for both you and the client (put in tos to give credit). There is no need to pay for monetized.
Commercial. That to me is just if the product is gonna be used for physical merchandise (not streaming assets this is just silly to charge it for.) Charge what you want with commercial but also be reasonable too.
Hiding fees in your tos and also charging fees for vgen and PayPal is against their tos. it is your responsibility as the freelancer to pay for those out of pocket or include it in base price.
Your pricing should be off of your time and also all fees it takes to list and sell said item.
I know all of us artist are doing this for a living,I am too. But doing this kind of practice with your customers will bring a bad light to all of us artist and the clients are gonna second guess getting work done by people.
That is my two cents as an artist. Obv everyone has their own opinions, so I wanted to say mine.

@Momoomiw I’m an artist, and I try to be friendly with my clients. In my opinion, it creates a safe atmosphere where they can express their ideas or concerns more freely, instead of feeling cold or pressured to accept things they don’t like but are afraid to speak up about.🩷
@PomPetit_ Most of the issue comes from artists taking payment upfront and then not starting the commission for months because of long queues. A lot of those months‑long waits could be avoided if artists only took payment when they ACTUALLY start working on the piece, not way beforehand.
@junstarias Most vgen artists have to bundle their services at first because unverified accounts have limited slots. But once you get verified, it’s best to make everything as transparent as possible so there are no big surprises.
@junstarias That’s why, once I got verified, I redid my services to be as transparent as possible. No more “base price is just a headshot even though the preview was half‑body” - since everything’s bundled, or “base price is for no BG even though the preview had one.”
@Double20305T Saame 😭 It would be really sweet of you to make something for her 🩷🥹
I was thinking the same, but I draw so painfully slow I’ll never catch up
My rigger vanished and took everyone's money with them
My 3.0 artist ghosted me before work started
The person in charge of BGM keeps stringing me along with "next month, next month" to start work
The person in charge of the key art for a drop also vanished
Just 4 of the many projects that I can't complete.
I'm at my wits end with finding reliable people to put my trust in. Everyone wants the creator to be understanding, patient, nice and give leeway, but how much more does my time and patience need to be trampled upon before I hit my limit?
Years of projects that end up abandoned, incomplete and just a sour taste in my mouth.
I promised my community so many cool things and I've been trying for 2 years to honor my promises and I'm exhausted. I feel like I'm letting everyone down. But I genuinely cannot keep going or trying, I have had so many bad experiences with people in this industry.
I also love how I'm being blamed for not making contracts. Yet majority of people refuse to sign one or reveal their identity to people. This industry is rotten. I wish I knew how people vet others before involving them in projects. But from my experience, even well known artists end up disappointing (see neon's case).
The people I hired for the job were people with years of experience in the industry, known for working with corporations, meeting deadlines, with people vouching for them and their work and recommending them.
I haven't really been streaming or creating YT content because my mental is at an all time low. I was so excited for my lore video, for the 3.0, for the future. Now I'm just sad and tired.
I'll try and find a way to honor my promises to you breadpups, I just sadly need more time. I'm sorry.
@ratparty_ Waat, nooo. My very first digital drawing is the most precious thing in the world to me 🩷 It’s so ugly it loops back around to being adorable; like a chewed‑up little kitten you immediately scoop up and go “shhh, it’s okay, mama loves you 🥹"

I just looked up this Neonbeat situation and OMG my blood is BOILING!
People don’t realize how many hardworking small artists would kill for his client base, his rates, his opportunities. And he just F’s it up. Duuuude…
And those poor clients who got scammed…
I’m furious.
