Ordinals have paid 7,035 BTC in fees, equivalent to USD $600,000,000-$750,000,0000 in only two years.

Runes have paid 2,700 BTC in fees, equivalent to ~USD $230,000,000-$290,000,000 in less than one year.

That’s basically USD $1 billion that has gone directly to miners, significantly contributing not only to their business revenue but, more importantly, to Bitcoin’s security.

These are staggering numbers for any business. Out of the blue, miners have increased their revenue by USD $1 billion in less than two years and USD $250 million in just 11 months of Runes activity, all without changing anything about their operations other than continuing to mine.

The influx of degens from other ecosystems, combined with the arrival of new participants to crypto, drove significant adoption to Bitcoin.

All of this to say, we should have a very ally on our side: miners. They should do everything they can to foster more transactions and generate more fees. Miners have an aligned interest in dynamizing the ecosystem.

As these numbers grow by at least an order of magnitude when the bull resumes, miners’ revenue will be profoundly impacted. Imagine knowing that modest investments in the Bitcoin ecosystem could lead to even more momentum, which would drive even more transactions and reach USD $10 billion in transaction fees by 2025.
