🖤Esta mañana hemos despedido con profunda tristeza a nuestros compañeros, Jerónimo y Germán, fallecidos ayer en acto de servicio al colisionar dos embarcaciones del servicio marítimo cuando perseguían una narcolancha en las costas de Huelva.

Ambos han recibido la Cruz del Mérito de la Orden de la Guardia Civil con Distintivo Rojo a título póstumo.

Her father, King Felipe VI, followed the same route decades ago, completing three years across all three military academies. It's a Spanish royal tradition—but one that stands out in an era when many royal families have abandoned such demanding commitments.

She's not just preparing to wear a crown. She's learning to lead soldiers. To make life-and-death decisions under fire. To understand the weight of command from the ground level, not from a palace balcony.

After completing her three years at the General Military Academy, Leonor will continue training at the Spanish Naval Military School and the Air Force Academy. This comprehensive military education across all three branches follows the same path her father King Felipe VI and grandfather Juan Carlos I took, making it a distinctive Spanish royal tradition.

Leonor is fluent in four languages and spent two years studying at UWC Atlantic College in Wales, the same school attended by other European royals. But unlike many of them, she chose the full military service path over traditional university. She's also the first Spanish queen regnant since Isabella II in the 1800s, making her path to the throne historically significant on multiple levels.

Another fascinating detail: Spanish law requires the heir to swear allegiance to the Constitution on their eighteenth birthday. Leonor did this in 2023, addressing the Spanish Parliament. Just months later, she traded the parliamentary chamber for military barracks.

Hoy alguien volvió a decirlo con una sonrisa burlona:
—Tú limpias culos.

No es la primera vez que lo escucho. Y probablemente tampoco será la última.

Esta vez no me quedé callado.

Sí, limpio culos. Pero también hago muchas otras cosas. Lavo cuerpos frágiles, ayudo a vestirse, corto uñas, doy de comer, escucho historias que nadie más tiene tiempo de oír y trato de devolver un poco de dignidad a personas que un día lo dieron todo por los demás.

Hago posible algo que muchos prefieren no mirar: que alguien pueda levantarse, sentirse limpio, acompañado y tratado como un ser humano.

Para algunos es “un trabajo sucio”. Para mí es humanidad.

Es fácil admirar profesiones que dan dinero, poder o prestigio. Lo difícil es reconocer el valor de quienes cuidan cuando la vida se vuelve frágil.

Muchos de los que se burlan nunca han necesitado ayuda para levantarse de una cama o para ir al baño. Pero la vida cambia rápido.

Y cuando llegue el día en que no puedan hacerlo solos, entenderán algo muy simple:
que quien está allí ayudando no es alguien “que limpia”.

Es alguien que sostiene la dignidad de otro ser humano.

Así que sí. Limpio culos.

Y lo hago con respeto, con paciencia… y con orgullo. ❤️

"God is Spanish." The battle won by the Immaculate Conception.

In 1585, during the Eighty Years' War, 4,000 Spanish soldiers were trapped on the island of Empel. The Dutch fleet blocked them in, flooded the land, and waited for them to starve or freeze. While digging a trench for shelter, a soldier found a buried image of the Immaculate Conception.

They set up a makeshift altar and prayed. That night, a sudden, impossible frost struck. The waters froze solid, something that rarely happens in that region. The Spanish soldiers simply marched across the ice, attacked the frozen Dutch ships, and captured the fleet.

The Dutch Admiral famously stated: "It seems that God is Spanish to have worked such a miracle for them."

To this day, the Immaculate Conception is the Patroness of the Spanish Infantry.
