The Mariel boatlift in the 80s was supposed to wreck Miami. Castro emptied his prisons, opened the gates, and dumped thousands of low-skilled migrants on Florida. Economists predicted disaster: wages would collapse, unemployment would spike, the local labor market would crater. Nobel winner David Card looked at the data afterward. Nothing happened. No crisis. The economy absorbed them without a hiccup.
Every migrant was one more customer in bars, shops, barbershops, gas stations. Extra demand creates new jobs that didnt exist before. Supply follows demand, not the other way around. Simple as that.
Fast forward to Poland in 2022. Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians crossed the border. Poles love telling everyone how they are feeding and housing us. Reality is they got a massive economic stimulus in the form of sudden extra consumption. Unlike Germany with its generous benefits, Poland has no luxury welfare hammock, so most Ukrainians went straight to work. Poland received both consumers and active labor at once.
Next time you hear some politician or commentator whine that "we are feeding them," remember Miami. Migrants are not a net drain; they are a net accelerator, especially when welfare traps are kept shut. The same principle applies to any country that doesnt sabotage itself with bad policy. Economies are not zero-sum pies. They expand with demand.
The real favor here runs from Ukraine outward: we absorb the human cost of a war that would otherwise land directly on European soil. Everything else is accounting theater.
Brigade Azov, Bohdan Krotevych
While Russia was terrorizing civilians in Kyiv, the SBU turned another shadow fleet tanker into a smoking wreck and torched three oil depots deep in Stavropol, 600 km from our border. The Avero, a sanctioned Suezmax beast hauling crude to China and India, was slammed by a Mamai naval drone.
That’s four shadow fleet tankers neutralized in just ten days. Every strike tightens the noose on Putin’s sanctions-evading oil machine.
Moscow’s rear is burning daily. We are seizing the initiative.
Russians are not only targeting Ukrainian civilians every night - they are also closely monitoring today's protests in Ukraine.
The Soviet style of command and the authoritarian nature of the russian system are among its greatest weaknesses. That is where Ukraine has an opportunity to gain an advantage.
You cannot defeat a large Soviet-style army with a smaller Soviet-style army. You have to evolve. You have to become technologically superior.
Meanwhile, protests across Ukraine have announced they will continue again tonight until the protesters' demands are addressed.
"Look, people with cardboard signs are on the streets of Kyiv at Franko Square, demanding “Rusoriz” (a fundraising campaign to buy drones for the UA army).
For “Rusoriz” to continue. It's probably not in our interest for them to take power, right? Because nothing would really change in Ukraine if that happened.
It's hard to predict. The only thing I know is that, on Fedorov, yes, the ultranationalists actually preyed on him as the Defense Minister. He has good ties with them. Those preyed on him who support continuing the war to the last Ukrainian.
And honestly, well, why hide it? He’s achieved certain successes over the last six months and has given us a huge headache. That's just how it is" - DMITRY STESHIN, russian so-called “war correspondent” for the Komsomolskaya Pravda media group.

You can watch three things forever: running water, a campfire, and the Tate brothers being arrested.
Reminder: they are facing more than 50 charges, including rape, sex trafficking, child sexual exploitation offenses, and other allegations.
Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan visited moscow in early June 2026 ahead of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. They were filmed firing russian ammunition toward Ukraine and riding in russian tanks.
And they were arrested by the Brits…
One thing I’ve learned through this war: you can count on the Brits. 🇬🇧
‼️TRUMP: Republicans should add Iran to the Russian Sanctions Bill. That’s what Lindsey wanted to do, and it was going to happen. IMPORTANT!!! President DJT
EXPLAINER: What does this mean for additional sanctions on Russia in support of Ukraine?
The more provisions that are attached to a bill, the harder it usually becomes to pass Congress. Several Democrats are already refusing to support this legislation because it includes expanded tariff powers for the U.S. president, in addition to the sanctions-related provisions.
Russia carried out one of its largest ballistic missile attacks on Kyiv, launching more than 40 missiles of various types, most of them targeting the capital, along with 120 attack drones. 1/
Satellite images obtained by Radio Svoboda show that the Wildberries logistics center in Tambov has been hit at 4 different points. The facility has stopped operations and has been abandoned for now.
The Kerch ferry crossing in Russian-occupied Crimea has lost about 75% of its capacity after two weeks of strikes. Only 25% remains operational.
Four ferries regularly transported vehicles and cargo between the ports of Kavkaz and Crimea, with a fifth vessel on standby in Kerch port: "Lavrentiy", "Panagia", "Eysk", "Maria", and "SKS-One".
Through hard work of the USF and the SSU, the situation now is as follows:
▪️"Eysk" ferry - successfully struck on 12 and 13 July, towed to Kerch port. No plans for restoration or return to the ferry line.
▪️"SKS One" vessel - sunk in Kamysh-Burun port by strikes between 7, 12 and 13 July and is beyond repair.
▪️"Maria" ferry - repeatedly hit throughout July by the Unmanned Systems Forces and the Security Service of Ukraine, towed to Kerch. Restoration not planned.
▪️"Lavrentiy" ferry - damaged by the Unmanned Systems Forces, the Security Service of Ukraine and the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine. No longer self-propelled and is now used only as a towed barge. This halves its effectiveness and greatly increases risks while at sea.
▪️"Panagia" ferry - damaged by the Security Service of Ukraine, the Unmanned Systems Forces and earlier by the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine. Also non-self-propelled and operating as a towed barge.
One ferry can carry 8–15 transport units depending on size and weight. Up to 80% of the traffic was allocated to the Russian Ministry of Defense. The previous daily combined capacity of the four ferries was 180–250 transport units under normal conditions.

The sacking of Fedorov has ignited Ukraine. Day 3 of protests in Kyiv sees crowds only growing larger, spilling across major cities with no sign of fading.
The ex-Defence Minister’s parting words cut deep: “Changes will come. You thanked me for Mriia and Diia – I thank you for hope.
” He credits veterans and soldiers for holding the line with honour, and signals dialogue is underway. This isn’t fading.
It’s a raw demand for real reform, proper contracts, leadership and respect for those actually fighting. The street is awake.
The Ukrainian SBU conducted an operation against the Russian shadow-fleet crude oil tanker „Avero“ (IMO: 9250737). The ship was struck at the stern section by an USV.
This is the 4th tanker in a very short of time being engaged this way in the Black Sea.
Magyar: Two weeks of MoLoCHKa. Kerch’s ferry crossing is almost gone.
Minus 75% of the Kerch Ferry Crossing’s capacity within two weeks of USF Operation “MoLoCHKa”. 25% remains. Will it survive? Didn’t think so.
Details:
Before the operation began, transport and cargo traffic across the Kerch Ferry Crossing was maintained by four ferries regularly operating between Port Kavkaz and Port Krym. A fifth vessel was kept on standby in the Port of Kerch: “Lavrentiy”, “Panagia”, “Yeysk”, “Mariya”, and “SKS-One”.
The situation was adjusted over the course of two weeks in July by Magyar’s Birds, USF, jointly with the Security Service of Ukraine.
AAR as of 19 July:
•🔥ferry “Yeysk” – successfully struck by the USF on 12 and 13 July, towed to the Port of Kerch, restoration and return to the ferry line are not planned⛔️;
•🔥cargo vessel “SKS-One” – destroyed by the USF over the course of 7, 12, and 13 July, lying in Kamysh-Burun Port, beyond repair⛔️;
•🔥ferry “Mariya” – repeatedly struck throughout July by the USF and the SSU, towed to the Port of Kerch, restoration and return to the ferry line are not planned⛔️;
•🔥ferry “Lavrentiy” – struck by the USF, the SSU, and the HUR, no longer capable of moving under its own power, used as a barge and hauled in a tug-and-barge configuration, reducing its operational potential by half and increasing the risk of being destroyed on the water;
•🔥ferry “Panagia” – struck by the SSU, the USF, and earlier by the HUR, no longer capable of moving under its own power, used as a barge and hauled in a tug-and-barge configuration, same as “Lavrentiy”.
*in the photo – just before getting blown to hell, the now dearly departed ferry “Mariya”; to the right – the good-for-nothing “Panagia”, still being towed as a barge.
•capacity of one ferry – 8–15 vehicles, depending on size and weight.
•80% of all traffic – quota of the russian ministry of war.
•the combined daily capacity of the four formerly operational ferries under standard non-combat conditions – 180–250 vehicles per day. Or rather, it used to be.
🌶️Worms, get that Astrakhan cargo vessel “Composer Rachmaninoff”, which you’ve prepared as a backup for Crimea, over from Rostov to Port Kavkaz already. The time has come for its heroic sinking.
The Kerch Ferry Crossing is fading.
We will stand.
Moscow will fall.
Crimea will be fed back up and rebuilt.
