I have some exciting news to share about @book_io and @stuff_io. This is the first preview of our fully decentralized video DEA file.

You will see us flip between the “unpacked” folder being empty and then see all the video shards being pulled down and decrypted as the video is streaming and video segments are requested. This is stored decentrally and then streamed to the client using HLS to serve them up as the video player requests them. This current segment length is set to 1 second. All the important resources (the m3u8 files and the mpd for dash players) are stored in the first shard. As the client requests the shard it gets the “segment playlist/index” and then starts playing. As the user watches or scrubs around, each 1 second segment is requested. The server fetches them, decrypts them, and serves them up as requested. From the perspective of the video player its just a regular HLS formatted MP4.

Happy to announce that John Aden has signed on as an advisor. John has had an incredible career!

A bit about John:

- John Aden has been Senior Leader, President and CEO of global companies like Walmart, Mac Tools, Frito Lay and David C Cook.
- 2007: Led international operations for Walmart. $110-billion international business at the time.
- 2012: led the the $55-billion General Merchandise team. During this time, John played a leadership role in working with Hollywood to transition the movie industry and consumers from Disk to Digital content.
- More recently, John was the CEO of a small publisher and record label as a turnaround project.
- This is where John started to see the opportunity to disrupt a VERY OLD SUPPLY CHAIN by decentralizing Intellectual property.

This is why he joined the team.

He wants to HELP CREATIVES and CONSUMERS experience CONTENT with access and ownership.
