🏏 From National Hero to Political Target?

Former Bangladesh cricket captain Shakib Al Hasan's ancestral home in Magura was attacked just hours after he participated in a virtual media event featuring former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Attackers smashed windows and threw petrol bombs, setting part of the unoccupied house on fire.

The incident has once again highlighted the deep political polarization in Bangladesh and raised concerns about whether political differences are increasingly being expressed through violence.

Violence against people or property because of political affiliation undermines democratic values, regardless of who the target is.
