This month’s #animalbread is in honor of the tiny, subterranean Chocolate Frog. Maritozzi (sweet buns that can be stuffed with a wide variety of sweet fillings) are popular Italian snacks that have nothing to do with frogs, but they sure are adorable. #TulipStreetKitchen

To celebrate a bird that looks straight out of Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, the Shoebill Stork, we’ve cooked up some Belgian Liege Waffles. The pearl sugar in the dough of these yeast risen waffles forms a crispy, crackly caramelized crust on the outside. #animalbread

For November’s #animalbread, we celebrate the Death’s Head Hawkmoth, Acherontia Styx, with the Bienenstich or Bee Sting Cake. Bee Sting Cake is a German yeasted cake with a cream filling, in this case a maple whipped cream, and a honey almond topping.
