You were “dabbing” in secondary school and probably bought your first Timberland because of BADDO!

I don’t even want to talk about Olamide as a record label boss. Gave us Lil Kesh, AG Baby, Asake, Fireboy, Chinko Ekun, etc.

Gave artists like Portable, Bella Shmurda, Zlatan, Fave, Naira Marley, Young Jonn, Seyi Vibez, Pheelz, etc. some of their biggest assists and/or hits in the industry.

And you want to look us in the face and rewrite history? Something all of us witnessed in real life. Same Baddo who was popping every year his artists were also popping?

I have said it, and I’m saying it again without mincing words: Wizkid is the ONLY artist in his set who can go hit for hit with Baddo.

Olamide has over 11 studio albums, full of hits. You must respect that name by force!

Olamide has not only dominated the music game for years now but also played a pivotal role in the rise of artistes; Like Lil Kesh, Asake, Adekunle Gold, Fireboy, Zlatan, Bella, and many more. Even the likes of Portable gained stardom thanks to Olamide's influence. Many of the music and artistes Nigerians hype today (that keeps the afrobeats movement going) is as a result of Olamide's mindset to create, and gift.

When it also comes to hit songs, that is, songs that actually has lyrical quality, no artiste from his era can go toe to toe with him. Comparing him with colleague who started before, or after him is beyond disrespectful.

Which other artiste has that longevity, street impact, successful record label, and can be linked to the success of rising stars?

Formal education hands you answers to questions someone else chose. Real life hands you problems with no syllabus and no invigilator.

A good fridge lets you cook once on Saturday and eat well all week, instead of standing over a pot every single night.

Hiring help for the tasks that drain you is not laziness. It is buying back your one life, piece by piece.

So do not just work to afford things.

Work to afford time.

Time to sleep. Time to rest. Time to be happy. That was always the point.

If you are a fresh graduate, I highly recommend getting a 9-5 job.

The obvious reasons are that you need the money and network and technical know-how.

But another less-talked-about reason is that it’s good for you to actually experience how an organization works.

You learn hierarchy of command, decorum, standard operating procedures, how to investigate failures, how to react to a dynamic environment, how to communicate, how to reward/punish, and so on.

For better or worse, 95% of the way I approach business is copied from Shell.

I simply don’t know how else to run a company. So I do what I’ve seen work for 12 years.

Of course, my business is different from Shell’s so I adjust as needed but the principle and the philosophy carry through.

Some people got born into a family with a long rich history of business/entrepreneurship and maybe even went straight to get an MBA. These folks may start a business fresh out of school and reasonably be expected to succeed.

But if you are like most of us, then I recommend working for someone else for a while.
