It was great joining Njideka Akunyili Crosby — a gifted Nigerian-born, Los Angeles-based artist — to unveil our first portrait together. This piece reflects so many chapters of Michelle and my story, and we’re thrilled that it will be on display in the Hope and Change lobby at the Obama Presidential Center starting this Juneteenth.

INSTEAD OF WATCHING AN HOUR OF NETFLIX TONIGHT.
This 1 hour Stanford lecture by Joel Peterson will teach you more about negotiation and getting what you want than most people learn in years.
Bookmark it and give it an hour, no matter what.
Let me go a little deeper on this
When Uber came to Nigeria, they were not only giving out bonuses to drivers, they were also giving mad bonuses to riders too
Then Unilag students were everywhere using the services basically for free
A driver would create a rider’s account, add the promo code and request it himself
It didn’t end there o…
They developed a process called simulation using a fake GPS manipulator called 'Lockito' and did not have to move their car at all to make money
I will explain
So imagine having an app that allows you to take a trip from point A to point B by manipulating the map?
They even used it on unsuspecting riders
So you are not driving the app is driving for you
Some drivers had multiple accounts for this and were making mad money from not driving
When this was discovered, the company added some security features like restricting a driver’s licence to a single user, building a firewall to detect third-party apps, cancelling all promo codes (I mean there used to be ₦15k promo codes), and removing the ₦1k cancellation fees, etc
It was a mad time 🤣🤣🤣
The Fall of DSTV
DSTV raised its subscription prices three times in two years.
Then it lost 1.4 million Nigerian subscribers in those same two years.
Then it slashed its decoder price by 50% to beg those subscribers to come back.
Some people will call it business strategy but this is a company eating itself alive and wondering why it is hungry.
The numbers are brutal.
MultiChoice lost 2.8 million active subscribers across Africa over two financial years. 1.2 million in 2025 alone. An 8% year on year decline.
Nigeria accounted for 77% of subscriber losses across all of MultiChoice’s African operations outside South Africa. The Rest of Africa base collapsed from 9.3 million in 2023 to 7.5 million in 2025.
Nigeria did not just leave DSTV, they buried it and the content is leaving with the subscribers.
BET Africa and MTV Base shut down January 2026. CBS Reality and CBS Justice went December 2025. CNN International, Discovery Channel, Cartoon Network, TNT Africa, Food Network and several others were all at risk of removal.
A platform charging premium prices while removing the channels people subscribed for is not a product anymore but a subscription to disappointment.
DSTV built its Nigerian dominance on a monopoly with no serious competition for decades. So it did what every monopoly does when it feels untouchable. It raised prices whenever it wanted, reduced value whenever it could, and treated Nigerian subscribers like they had no alternative.
Then Netflix arrived. Then YouTube got faster. Then data became more accessible. Then the naira collapsed and Nigerians had to choose between DSTV and eating.
Omo we chose eating.
MultiChoice responded by cutting decoder prices from N20,000 to N10,000 and launching a promotional campaign called “We Got You”.
“We Got You” from the same company that raised your subscription three times in 24 months, removed your favourite channels, and treated your complaints like background noise.
They did not get you, they lost you and now they are running after you with a discount like an ex who only calls when they realise you moved on.
DSTV is not falling because of Netflix or the economy.
It is falling because it spent twenty years treating Nigerian consumers with contempt and assumed loyalty was the same thing as having no choice.
Nigerians finally got a choice but not MultiChoice
Something funny happened at the UN Office in Abuja yesterday when I went for my One-Man protest seeking global support to free the kids in captivity. I respectfully approached the policemen at the entrance to inform them that I’ll be spending some time at the outside perimeter of the UN building as I was there as early as 9am and planned to hold the banner so every staff including the UN Resident Representative could see it while driving in. Just me. No camera, no TV crew, and no crowd. Guess what these guys told me?
A YouTuber with 110 million subscribers released a free version of ChatGPT.
His name is Felix Kjellberg. You know him as PewDiePie.
He spent his own money on a 10-GPU computer at home. He used it to run the same kind of AI models that power ChatGPT, but on his own hardware. Then he wrote his own app to chat with them, because the apps that already exist were not good enough.
Then he gave it away for free. Anyone can download it. Anyone can change it. Anyone can run it.
It's called Odysseus.
It runs on your computer. Your data stays on your disk. No account. No tracking. No monthly fee.
What you get:
- A chat window like ChatGPT
- An AI assistant that can browse the web, read your files, and do tasks for you
- A tool that scans your computer and tells you which AI models will work on it
- A research mode that reads many websites and writes you a report
- A side-by-side mode to test two AI models on the same question
- A writing editor where AI helps you, instead of writing for you
- Memory, so the AI remembers your past chats
- Email with AI that sorts your inbox and writes replies for you
- Notes, a to-do list, and a calendar
- Works on your phone too
23,612 stars on GitHub in 2 days. Top of trending all weekend.
ChatGPT Plus costs $20 a month. Claude Pro costs $20 a month. PewDiePie's version costs nothing, runs on your own computer, and the code is open for anyone to read.
This is what AI looked like before the subscription model.

The engineer who built Claude Code just dropped a 28-minute video on how to write prompts that actually work
I've seen $300 courses that don't cover what he shows in the first 10 minutes

As a German enthusiast. I will tell you this for free. You do not need 29 million to go to Germany. Learn the language and have your B2 cert, apply for Ausbildung and you would be paid while studying. If not Ausbildung, Germany is tuition free, meaning you can go study without paying tuition. There are opportunities, but what we lack is information ❤️
Parties.
Party & have some fun together. Baby girl, grind on him. Mr man, rock her from behind. Flirt & remind each other why you fell in the first place.
Travel.
Doesn’t have to be outside the country, could even be a different city. You’d be surprised how a mere change of scenery can breathe new life into a relationship.
Hotel.
Book a room for the fun of it. Play roles, switch things up & act like you’re meeting each other for the first time. Make it look like a one night stand. The excitement alone does wonders🤭
Dates.
Going on dates at least twice every month would do you both a great deal. Treat each date like a first date. Imagine the fun in trying new foods, exploring different restaurants & creating fresh memories together.
After the referee gave the penalty ,
Raya was already with another ball he picked outside the pitch just to put pressure on the penalty taker. PSG captain and Ruiz took the ball away from him,yet he kept coming close to Vitinha again. Lewis Kelly took down the ball from vitinha, desire pushed him back,he kept coming back. Meanwhile Gabriel is still standing at the penalty kick spot after the referee told him several times to leave the spot. Arsenal football club is a very dirty club.
An update on our TV experiment.
In May, my wife mentioned maybe it was time to get a TV again. Almost 18 months since the old one broke. I agreed, and we bought one.
Here's what surprised me. The day it arrived, the kids were excited. I set it up, tested it, turned it off. And nobody asked to put it on.
That evening, after school and homework, they went to the park like always. Same on Wednesday and Thursday. The TV just sat on the wall like a forgotten thing. It first came on that Friday for movie night, same as always, just on the TV now instead of the laptop.
Three weeks in, and life is exactly how it was before. On Friday they watched a movie, and we had a short family Mario game session. Saturday, we built a lego puzzle until it was time for the Champions League final. Sunday, they wanted to go play with their friends after our family reading time, and it was my wife and I who said no, sit back, let's watch a family movie together.
That's a new thing. Twice a month we pick something educational and talk about it after. A chance to teach them about the world, about faith, about what other people go through. The rest of the time they pick their own.
People will say it's all devices now anyway, which is true. But the kids only use their tablets one hour each on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and have done so for years. They walk around with books instead of devices.
I'm quite happy that the habit held even after the TV came back. Screentime is STILL way down, and family time is way up.
It's still the best family experiment of all time. Let's see where we are by December.
This is the son of a politician explaining how his family had to flee Zamfara after kidnappers attacked their neighbourhood and threatened to return.
They had total of 7 armed vehicles to protect them!
4 army van, two police and one Civil defence vehicles that could have protected an entire community was at at beck and call of one family.
What about the ordinary families in Zamfara who don't have armed escorts, police backup, or the resources to relocate overnight?
These guys don’t care about you and I
