I happened to visit Lake Nabugabo Research site( NAFFIR) for @Makerere and carried out a study on the physicochemical parameters of Lake Nabugabo a satellite lake and how they influence the behavior and feeding of the unique fish species like oreochromis variabilis, haplochromis.
I bought my first car in 2019 around the same time that one of my cousin’s children was sent home from school for not having paid school fees.
Wueh! The things I heard my relatives say about me behind my back!
The truth is, I didn’t even buy the car with cash. I got it on loan. But to my relatives, it was like I had just woken up one morning, walked into a showroom, pointed at the car I wanted, and driven off while their child was sitting at home out of school.
Owning a car had been my dream for years. I worked for it. I sacrificed and saved until I could finally afford one, even if it meant taking a loan.
It was just bad timing that my moment finally came at the same time their child was sent away.
That boy was in Form Four. He had been “my project” since he joined high school. I remember stepping in and paying for everything he needed back then.
Later, his parents took over and managed to pay his fees on their own. Things were going well for them.
I’d even stopped hearing from them because they only used to call when they needed help. Now that they were okay, they went quiet.
I only found out what they were saying after I innocently posted a photo of my new car. One relative took a screenshot and sent it around. Suddenly, phone calls started and WhatsApp groups were buzzing “How can he buy a car when his cousin’s child has been sent home for lack of school fees?”
It was my favorite cousin who told me what was really going on.
Up to today, I have never been forgiven at home. No one remembers that I once sacrificed and paid every bill when that boy was joining Form One.
Because of that, I no longer visit our ancestral home.
The good thing is, I’m a man. I’ll build my own home with my _pesen_, a place my grandchildren can come to during the December holidays.
MAN to MAN
If you don't marry a virgin, you'll will kiss your bride in front her exes, one night stands, male besties who hit it.
She'll invite all of them.
You won't know . You'll be there smiling like a clown.
