The rose mallow blooms are in full swing now!
In summer, cotton fluffs from other plants float through the air. I use those fluffs like a brush to hand pollinate my rose mallows.
That said, the local pollinators have been great this year! 🐝🦋
Rose mallow flowers bloom for roughly 1 day.
Regardless if pollination occurs, the flower wilts & falls off (icon #2).
Successful pollination causes the ovary (icon #3) to turn into a seed pod in a few months.
Recent smoke from Canada has caused mine to sag a bit, though…
The rose mallows finally bloomed 😊! The time between the first and second photo was only 1 day.
Mine have pink flowers, but red and white are other typical colors.
Now it’s time to work on hand pollinating the flowers! 🌺
@DolbackySeal You always have funny train stories, Dorubacky!! 😆
Are you able to pay extra to ride in a private cabin? 🚄
In the USA, public transportation is often avoided for similar reasons to your funny stories. People drive personal cars when possible.
@mochi_kawa204 Wow, this is really creative!
Moving a plushie around so it dances at full speed might even take more dexterity than doing the dance in person. And since you’re holding it from the front, you have to mentally flip the movements horizontally!!
Thanks for sharing!! 🦦🕺
The newest flower buds at the top of this rose mallow stem are protected by epicalyx. As the buds mature, the epicalyx opens into a collar shape that deters crawling insects.
I have roughly 100 followers now! I never thought I’d get that many. I hope you all have a great summer!
@mofus_life Those are lovely flowers! They look like rose mallows. Did you know the trumpet shaped parts in the flower’s center are sticky to help receive pollen? 🌺
Have a nice day, Mofu and owner!🦔
Today is the USA’s 250th birthday!! 🇺🇸
Being in early July, there’s a lot of activity going on outside. 🐝🐢
It has also been quite hot lately, so it’s important to relax in the shade when possible. 🐱
