@PhilKish1 good morning Phil, I would go with a shot of the propiconazole. That should be good coverage for the dollar spot and you dont need to worry about anthracnose
Heads Up! With forcast temps, rain and a holiday weekend coming we could see lots dollar spot, leaf spot and anthracnose show up. I would get out front of these if they are a concern and put down a fungicide spray while the weather permits! Luck Favors the Prepared!
Hearing about this alot the past week. If your seeing something on high cut turf that looks like the photo below you dont need to worry, its not a disease. Its caused by the severe temperature swings we are seeing. The problem will go away with the next couple of mowings!
@orlaa_kennedy army worms eggs hatch in the fall, the catapillars can cause damage to turf. I dont think its much of an issue this year due to the conditions of most turf and how late it is in the season.
Disease Update! First confirmed case of active summer patch, Nematodes are starting to really cause turf decline and poa triv is checking out hard core! Stay on the phosphites and do everything you can culturally to make the turf healthy and happy!!
More unhappy news. Brown patch is active already! Most of the samples I have seen this week are turf type tall fescue. Make sure when spraying that your using the right product for the job. Protectants are before disease occurs, curatives are for active disease problems.
Well my warning 2 weeks ago about Leaf Spot just came true. First case confirmed on a home lawn located in western Ohio! Make sure with the weather turning warmer to get some strong protection out for Leaf Spot so you can start your year in good shape!
August has arrived with a very loud BANG! 1st samples of gray leaf spot and Pythium have landed. Make sure your ryegrass and young turf is protected. Good news, it looks like we are getting ready to cool off a little and shed some of these warm humid nights!
Heads up! We have a new pathogen joining the party. Anthranose has finally showed up! First case in the diagnostic lab this year, just in time for Aug. Make sure your covered for this one!
This weeks turf heads up! Still getting samples this week hammered with leaf spot! Disguises itself on the golf side as many other diseases. If your thinking of putting out you strobi app early go ahead! We are a rain storm away from a number of possible disease outbreaks!
Word to the wize, if you have not already started your Phosphite program yet, today is the day! Turf Disease seems to be about 2 weeks ahead of normal so we need to up our game in prevention and turf health!
Heads Up! Dollar spot and Leaf spot are both active. With the cold wet weather on the horizon I would make sure my leaf spot protection was solid and get back ahead of the dollar spot inoculum. When the weather turns back to summer dollar spot will come back with a vengeance!
Siobhan Cusack, recently had the opportunity of a lifetime to volunteer as a greenskeeper at the Ryder Cup at @marcosimonegolf in Rome, Italy!
She did a phenomenal job representing not only herself as a turfgrass professional; but also @OhioState as an @OSUturf grad student.
With the cooler temps and rainfall disease is thriving again here in Ohio. We have dollarspot, anthracnose and leafspot active once again! New for summer 2022, fairyring has finally joined the party!
We finally have the trifecta of active disease. Dollar Spot, Brown Patch and now Summer Patch! With the forecast we currently have, look out for these 3 diseases to increase in severity very quickly!
