Age of Wonders 4 turns faction creation into strategy: choose a form, culture and traits, then reshape your people through Tomes and transformations. Diplomacy is modest and the DLC catalogue is costly, but few 4X games reward experimentation this well. #AgeOfWonders4#4X
#SengokuDynasty does not cast you as Oda Nobunaga. You begin as a survivor, gathering resources, building homes and gradually automating a village.
Its Japanese-inspired settlement systems are the main appeal. Combat, late-game variety and performance are less convincing.
#ShadowGambit was Mimimi Games’ final release—and its most flexible stealth tactics game. Undead pirates, supernatural abilities and synchronized takedowns across open island maps. Brilliant systems, though less tightly paced than Desperados III.

#PokémonConquest remains one of the strangest crossovers that genuinely worked.
Released on Nintendo DS in 2012, it replaced gyms with 17 warring kingdoms and turned Pokémon battles into 6v6 tactics on square-grid maps.
Metacritic: 80. IGN: 9/10.

We are on the cusp of a Real Time Strategy Renaissance.
It's been a rough few years for the genre, it has to be said. From the incredible highs of the 90s and the early 2000s, RTS games have struggled to break out as Grand Strategy and MOBAs have stolen the spotlight from them. But, worry no more, for we have titans of the industry stepping back into the fold to save RTS games, and frankly, thank goodness for that.
I vividly remember picking up Empire Earth (yeah, showing my age here) out of the bargain bin at GAME (rest in power) as my first RTS game, and how much of an impact it had on me. It's very exciting to see that we're getting brand new entries into iconic franchises, and entirely new franchises being created, that will demonstrate why these games were the king of the castle back in the day.
Welcome back, Real Time Strategy. We've missed you.
1. Stronghold 4
2. Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV
3. Company of Heroes: Definitive Edition
4. Game of Thrones: War for Westeros
Creative Assembly spent six years on Hyenas before Sega cancelled it. Former developers called it Sega’s biggest-budget game, but no figure was confirmed. The real problem was not “an RTS studio made an FPS”—the project never found a stable identity. #Hyenas#Sega
Started to play #TableTopTavern. Really love the snappy control and back-to-the-root-total-war feeling. The combat mechanics is a little bit confusing at the start but I'm sure I'll understand more in the next hour or so. #strategygames
#Warhammer made #TotalWar bigger, but #ThreeKingdoms proved historical titles could still sell—over 1 million copies in its first week.
The real divide is not dragons versus realism. It is long-term support.
Can #MedievalIII rebuild trust with historical fans?
#ROTK8Remake’s roughly 50% Steam rating is disappointing. Its 1,000-officer sandbox is still distinctive, but passive AI, repetitive tasks and limited strategic depth are fair criticisms, especially when the Japanese base game and expansion edition costs ¥11,880.

One upcoming strategy game a day:
#FireEmblem Fortune’s Weave follows four heroes competing in the Heroic Games for a single wish. Between battles, players train, recruit allies and explore dungeons under limited preparation time.
Releases Sep 17, 2026, exclusively on Switch 2.
Infinite Borders: #ThreeKingdoms has already been cancelled once.
After its 2025 Steam demo, development was reportedly halted and the team dissolved. NetEase revived it in May 2026 with new sandbox and editing tools.

I spent years thinking the #Paradox logo was a fossil or abstract gear. It is actually a platypus skeleton.
The animal was once called Ornithorhynchus paradoxus because scientists found it so difficult to classify.
With the City Hall, we have not only added a new building to Civica, but we are also nearing completion of the political system centered around the Signoria, which will redefine life and legislation in your city. #indiedev#gamedev#citybuilder#medieval
🔥 MC 74 and an IGN 8—but only 64% positive on Steam.
#TotalWar: PHARAOH was not a bad game. It launched with a small map and a US$59.99 price that it could not justify.
Dynasties later made it far better, but the damage was done.
Underrated—or deserved?
