From oil and gas dreams beneath Somali soil,

Now even talk of Turkish investment, technology,
And dreams reaching toward the stars from Somali land,
Feels possible because real friends planted belief

The Somali National Army has destroyed sites used by Khawaarij to collect illegal levies from residents in the Madah Gisi and Golaley areas of Middle Shabelle.

The operation was carried out by the 3rd Brigade of the 12th April Division. The Deputy Commander of the brigade, Lt. Col. Ismail Kuulow Ture, said it was planned in order to relieve residents of the pressure and intimidation the group had subjected them to, and that operations to destroy such sites will continue. Residents of the areas had for some time been made to pay levies to the group.
