Şimdi bütün Vanlı hemşehrilerimi, millet iradesine vurulan darbeye karşı Genel Başkanımız Sayın Özgür Özel’in katılacağı buluşmaya davet ediyorum. Silivri Cezaevi’nden buluşmanızı izleyecek, tüm kardeşlik duygularımla yanınızda olacağım.

They first took away my freedom, now they are trying to silence my voice. On May 8, access to my official X account, followed by nearly ten million people, was blocked in Türkiye by court order. This is not only an attack on my digital freedom, but on the fundamental right of millions to access information.
According to the court decision, my posts “disrupt public order.” On the contrary: my words seek to build a just, inclusive, and democratic public order—one that respects rights, freedoms, and human dignity.
This campaign of judicial harassment will not cow me, whether it is the annulment of my university diploma or the baseless charges that attempt to link me to bribery, organized crime, or terrorism. These are not acts of justice, but of repression.
Like many journalists, writers, and public figures in our country, I now face this archaic and undemocratic method of censorship. But let it be known: these efforts will not succeed. I will raise my voice against injustice and one-man rule.

My voice will not be silenced!
Council of Europe’s Congress of Local and Regional Authorities sent a clear and urgent message. Their high-level delegation became the first international body to meet me in Silivri, standing in the very place this government uses to contain dissent. They also visited the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, where our team continues to serve the people with integrity.
Council of Europe’s visit to Silivri and their call for my immediate release carry weight. They signal that the fight for democracy in Türkiye is not and will not be forgotten nor ignored.
I am grateful to Congress President Marc Cools, Secretary General Mathieu Mori, rapporteurs Bryony Rudkin and Gudrun Mosler-Törnström, and all members of the delegation. Their meetings with Acting Mayor Nuri Aslan and with District Mayors of Üsküdar and Büyükçekmece underscored an essential message: this struggle is as local as it is universal in defending democratic rights and freedoms.
Their visit aligned with a powerful moment in Strasbourg. The European Parliament has also adopted its Türkiye Report by a wide margin, condemning the deepening collapse of democratic standards. My arrest was recognized for what it truly is, a politically motivated act aimed at preventing democratic competition. With that vote, the European Parliament made it clear that Türkiye’s EU path cannot advance under current conditions.
We, the Turkish people from all backgrounds, will reverse this democratic backsliding and no matter how many voices are silenced, the call for justice will continue to rise.
Istanbul is more than a city — it is a symbol of democratic will, civic courage, and hope for the future.
Today, on #EuropeDay, we host the #CitiesForDemocracy Summit with @EUROCITIES to show that cities can lead where others fall silent.

Today, I visited one of our combat brigades at the Zaporizhzhia frontline, which uses American High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, or HIMARS. Our guys are very open about these systems, and they are extremely grateful to the United States for providing them. HIMARS are a prime example of superior, highly precise, effective, and dependable American weapons.
Without such long-range missiles, Russia would have killed hundreds of thousands more Ukrainians. Having the means to protect themselves from Russian terror is a matter of life and death for the Ukrainian people. HIMARS were critical in defending the Kherson region against the Russians. They also helped to thwart the Russian offensive on Sumy earlier this year. They are now assisting in the defense of the most difficult areas of the Donetsk frontline against Russian assaults.
If we had not had these and other powerful long-range weapons, the Russians would have captured and destroyed many more Ukrainian cities and villages. Long-range capabilities prevent loss of life. It is one thing to lose munitions and missiles in order to stop the occupiers, but it is another to lose lives as a result of a lack of such defense capabilities.
We are grateful to the United States for its assistance in reducing our loss of life. Strengthening positions is key to guaranteed peace. Russian bullies can only be deterred and forced to accept peace through strength. And such peace through strength is attainable.
