Renowned nonexistent Luthero-Papist | Also named Nathan(???) | “We had a new user post here that Mr. Turnipseed is a real person. What evidence is there?”
Vance: I recognize that a lot of young voters don’t love the policy that we have on the Middle East… Don’t get disengage because you disagree with the admin on one topic. Get more involved. That’s how we take the country back.
To recap, we got rightist unity, Schmittian state of exception theory, the clearpill, hopes of entryism and infiltration into the GOP, extreme anti-libertarianism, pro-Zionism, post-liberalism, and anti-populism on the right all leading up to this Trump admin.
For the record, I've spoken to many trans people in my life and traveled across the country as I campaign.
I hear from families with a trans parent and have heard the fear they feel. I have spoken with young people who are stigmatized for even socially transitioning. I hear about how the state is being used against someone's autonomy and medical decisions.
That is wrong.
I want healthcare in the hands of an individual to make decisions in consultation with their doctor. And like in any medical atmosphere, if a child is the patient, their parent should have jurisdiction over decision making, not the government so long as no abuse or neglect is present. I have always advocated that surgery to treat gender dysphoria should be reserved for those over 18 years old.
As for education, I also want the power to be in the hands of parents and students to decide the best education for them instead of a centrally planned system. As much as possible, we need a decoupling of education and the state. You can choose how your child is educated, and others can do the same. And may the best schooling win in the free market.
I used to be puzzled by this, but after encountering the functional and spiritual successors of the National Review, it’s an entirely understandable impulse.
It’s really been something this last decade watching the New Right emerge swearing up and down that they’re opposed to National Review conservatism, only to betray the American right on the exact same issues.
Despite how totally insignificant they are in the grand scheme of things, tariffs do an excellent job demonstrating that there is no right wing coalition, and that junior partners in the alleged coalition are just dupes and whipping boys.
Basically the same thing is playing out again, except the foreign enemy has changed, and it’s people who claim to be against Buckley and conservatism now playing the part of Buckley and conservatism.
Most right wingers are afflicted by a malignant case of anti-libertarianism and an advanced case of “by any means necessary,” such that they’ll hate anyone not trying to sell out the country for marginal increases in border enforcement.
Critics of Massie will cite some left-wingers supposedly loving him as evidence of him being a bad politicians
Have they considered that people just like people who actually believe in things and follow through with them?
Tomorrow I'll be hosting the first ever "Ask an Austrian Anything" for student members of the @mises Institute. My plan is to talk a bit about my sticky prices paper and then answer questions.
Students: check your email for the meeting link.
There is still good and important work being done in economic theory. Like this piece in QJAE: "The Development and Application of the Disutility of Labor in Marginalist Theory" https://t.co/CLo4kYQYF6
For reference, Hans Fiene’s response to the tragedy, before deleting it and fleeing to Facebook, was to talk about “both” sides.
In his response, he reserved the word “demoniacs” not for the pedophile district president, but for anon podcasters whom he personally dislikes.
Perhaps Hans might want to consider whether he should consider these words of Luther's:
"Hans, take hold of your own nose and reach into your own bosom..."
And yes, @TurnipMerchant was unjustly excommunicated.
